TheFixer on Instagram: "So here’s the deal… this deck is not up to code.  Through bolting like this is no longer allowed in my area.  My mistake was made when doing this on my own house after being out of the construction field for a few years.  I didn’t do my research on code changes so I just did what I had done for small decks for 12 years when it was code.  The issue here is that the deck should have full bearing on top of the posts.  We always built beams for larger decks but small ones like this (4ftx8ft) this is how I always did it.  Do I think it is going to collapse?  Absolutely not.  It is also a foot and a half off the ground.  If I really wanted to make it up to code I could just add a 2x4 under the deck down to the footing and boom!  Up to code!
