Few simple ways can achieve a very dark colour (not just black!) with less dye- 1)Microwaving the black buttercream naturally richens the colour to atleast twice (if not more) its normal strength. 2) Leave to rest overnight. Longer you leave a dark colour, the deeper the colour gets. 3) Use gel colour. After trying several options, I find @sugarflaircoloursltd black extra works best to achieve a rich dark shade. 4) Start with chocolate buttercream as that way you naturally start with a dark colour. Scoop a small amount, add colour and microwave till melted.
