Here's How I Turned Our Formal Living Room Into A Home Office

When we purchased our home last year, we started out using one of our three bedrooms as a home office. Our plans were to eventually convert the unused formal living space in the front of the house to a home office down the road, as we have a bigger family room in the back of the house that we use as our primary living space. When we found out we were going to have a baby, I figured this would be a good time to tackle this project.

By adding these stunning sliding doors, we created a bit of separation and privacy from the foyer, making the space both functional and fabulous. In order to do this, the original opening needed to be smaller so we’d have enough wall space inside the room for the doors to slide open - It was a super easy fix by just framing it in. 🔨 As a bonus, by doing this we also created symmetry from the inside of the room - so aesthetically it looks so much better. 🌟 This easy fix became one of the standout features of our last flip, The Classic Colonial. I actually really really love the idea of secret doors, super cool!! But I think it's not the best idea to have one for the bathroom because moisture will be trapped inside and lead to mould growth. Unless you keep the door open when not in use, but that defeats the whole purpose of having a secret door right? 😂

2️⃣ Wardrobe in middle of room
Again, another really cool idea to have a makeshift "walk-in wardrobe" without sacrificing one whole room. But having a full-height wardrobe right in the middle of the room will hinder wind and light flow, which might make the wardrobe area feel musty.
