The huanengo is a traditional blouse typical of Michoacán, Mexico. This beautiful piece is completely handmade via pedal loom and features intricate cross-stitch embroidery by Purépecha artisans from the Michoacán sierra. The name of the huanengo, Parákata, means butterfly in the Purépecha language. 🦋

Designs that make you feel proud. 🥹 Did you know… This type of embroidery is found in San Gabriel Chilac, Puebla, and is an intricate technique that showcases the flaura and fauna of the area. The embroidery of this piece is done on cotton manta cloth, with punto relleno stitch technique, made by Petrona from San Gabriel Chilac. This embroidery is drawn by hand with a miniature flower motif and is embroidered for 6 to 8 hours per 15 centimeters.
