The NOAA International Affairs Council (IAC) serves as the principal policy and decision-making body for NOAA's international engagement. The IAC ensures coordination, cooperation, and communication on international activities, and enhances the visibility of NOAA's international activities and accomplishments, across the agency.
The OIA Director serves as Chair of NOAA’s International Affairs Council which has representation from each NOAA Line Office and the Office of General Counsel.
- The IAC utilizes a matrix approach to coordinate, cooperate, and communicate NOAA interests and actions on international matters.
- The IAC also has Sub-Groups to focus on high priority and cross-cutting needs such as China collaboration, Indonesia collaboration, polar issues, food/water security, and USAID engagement, among others.
