Done/Not done vs Yes/No

[edit]

@Waldyrious I think the problem is that the Yes/No labels in your version are not translatable, and marking them all as translatable would be a lot of effort and would make the page's wikitext more difficult to read.

In this edit: [1] @Shirayuki tried using Template:Yes/Template:No instead, but this was reverted later. I don't know why, but I would guess it's because it looks terrible (and isn't colorblind-accessible).

If you want to change the labels (and I agree that Yes/No makes more sense than Done/Not done), I think we would need new templates combining the readable appearance of Template:Done/Template:Not done with the labels of Yes/No. Matma Rex (talk) 19:55, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Matma Rex: Another reason is that {{yes}} and {{no}} cannot handle cells that already have colspan, such as | colspan="2" | {{Done|Yes}}. Shirayuki (talk) 22:57, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure I follow entirely. Is {{Yes }} translatable in a more readable way that {{Done }} cannot be? Is the issue that the label for {{Done }} is given within a template parameter? Is your proposed solution a new net of templates that look like {{Done }} et al., but default to the labels Yes/No? Waldyrious (talk) 23:09, 3 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yes, exactly, the label is specified within a parameter and every occurrence has to be separately marked for translation and then translated. In a new set of templates, it would only have to be translated once. Matma Rex (talk) 12:33, 4 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
