Rui Sun has been a professor at the Faculty of Geographical Science, Beijing Normal University, since 2006. He received his Master’s degree in Applied Meteorology from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 1995 and earned a Ph.D. in Physical Geography from Beijing Normal University in 1998. After completing his Ph.D. studies, he became a lecturer at the same university (1998–2000) and was promoted to associate professor in 2000. His main research interests focus on remote sensing of the ecological environment, and he is mainly engaged in research on remote sensing of the carbon cycle and vegetation productivity, surface evapotranspiration and drought monitoring, remote sensing dynamic monitoring of land use/cover, etc.
