Mackinac Island offers an array of accommodation options. We have resorts like the famous Grand Hotel, historic hotels with spectacular views, island condos perched on bluffs, and charming B&Bs and cottages. Each offers its own brand of magic. There are no chain hotels on the island.

RESTAURANTS

You’re bound to work up an appetite exploring Mackinac Island, and you’re in luck because we have something for every palate. Our historic hotels boast world-renowned chefs. Also sprinkled around the island are quaint eateries for something quick and comforting like pizza or a burger. Explore the flavors of Mackinac Island at one of our many and varied restaurants.

During the day, enjoy shopping and eat some locally made fudge. See reenactments and tour hands-on exhibits at Fort Mackinac that will keep you busy for hours. Take a carriage tour with a knowledgeable and friendly driver for the most comprehensive way to experience Mackinac Island. Or, if you prefer, bike, hike, or ride a horse through our parkland, which makes up 80 percent of the island. Mackinac Island is also surrounded with water activities including daily kayak tours, sunset boat rides, themed cruises, parasailing and sport fishing. When you’re done, enjoy an evening cocktail. Mackinac Island offers nightly entertainment, from classical music to big band, folk, rock, jazz, and the blues. The Grand Hotel features live jazz nightly from the Grand Hotel Orchestra. No matter what, make sure you find time to relax and rejuvenate on the island where time stands still.

TRANSPORTATION

Interstate I-75 brings you to the ferry docks of Mackinac City in the Lower Peninsula and St. Ignace in the Upper Peninsula. All season long, Shepler’s Ferry serves Mackinac Island. They have a fleet of ferries transporting passengers to Mackinac Island in 16-30 minutes. Check their website for schedules and pricing. Pellston Airport is 15 miles from the island and is serviced by Delta Airlines. Mackinac shuttle services provide ground transportation from the airport to the ferries. Great Lakes Air is a full-service passenger and freight charter service offering a seven-minute commute from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island. When arriving via air, call ahead and have a horse-drawn taxi waiting for you upon arrival. Once you’re on the island, every mode of transportation is available to visitors as long as it doesn’t require gasoline. No cars are allowed on Mackinac Island.
