🔎🚀Mongolian Government has been negotiating with SpaceX to launch its first national telecommunications satellite, a step towards enhancing its connectivity and fostering a domestic space economy. Mongolia’s Digital Development and Communications Minister, Uchral Nyam-Osor, highlighted this as a pivotal moment for Mongolia’s space ambitions, emphasizing the nation’s commitment to a digital and innovative future. Following the issuance of two licenses to SpaceX last year for internet service provision via low-orbit satellites, the move is part of Mongolia’s digital and sustainable development strategy under its New Recovery Policy and Vision2050. With over 35,000 satellites, Starlink aims to enhance broadband access in remote regions and is set to activate services in Mongolia later this month. The official launch of Starlink Mongolia is scheduled for the Mobile World Congress 2024 in Barcelona, Spain on February 26th. ‘No Service’ will soon be a thing of the past That's the future T-Mobile and SpaceX are building. Only a few years back, I was part of T-Mobile's dynamic team. Witnessing their drive for innovation was inspiring. Embracing new technology is essential, not just for T-Mobile but for any business aiming to grow and stay relevant. January 3, 2024, marked a pivotal moment. T-Mobile and SpaceX's long-standing partnership achieved a new milestone: The launch of Starlink's first direct-to-device satellites. This collaboration leverages Elon Musk’s SpaceX satellites to extend T-Mobile’s reach beyond conventional networks, serving 300 million Americans. T-Mobile's network struggles in some areas due to geography or land-use restrictions. But they did it. Text messages were sent to and from standard cell phones, via Starlink satellites, using T-Mobile’s network. Their vision: a world where 'No Service' zones are obsolete. Global connectivity, reaching every corner of the globe. It's not just about staying connected. It's about connecting the unconnected. This partnership is a leap towards a future without limits. Elon Musk's vision combines with T-Mobile's 'Uncarrier' spirit. No mountain too high, no valley too low…for a signal. Text messaging is just the start. They plan to expand to voice and data in the coming years. This is the future of communication. And it's unfolding right before our eyes. Ready for a future where the sky's not the limit? We sure are. #TMobile #SpaceX #ElonMusk #Innovation #founders

WHY STARLINK IS ILLEGAL IN SOUTH AFRICA! 📡❌ LINK: https://lnkd.in/du7NrVSt #ElonMusk's @SpaceX venture, #Starlink, has revolutionized internet access in many parts of the world with its constellation of low-earth orbit satellites offering high-speed, low-latency internet. But its still not available in South Africa. So I’m here to unpack the why to you. Yes its the government but let me explain. So what is Starlink? Starlink boasts a constellation of thousands of low-earth orbit satellites, that are significantly closer to Earth than traditional satellites. Elon Musk through his space company #spacex has been launching these into space for years at a much faster and cheaper rate due to him having a technological advantage through his company However, #SouthAfrica, despite its significant need for improved internet connectivity, remains absent from Starlink's operational map. But #Zimbabwe is. Many want to make it complex but It’s actually really simple. Starlink's absence from South Africa's internet landscape is a missed opportunity for both the company and the country for the small sector of the population that it would service, but I don’t think at the current pricing Starlink makes sense to most in SA but there are those who need it. Addressing the regulatory hurdles, navigating potential competition concerns, and focusing on the mutual benefits can unlock Starlink's potential to bridge the digital divide in South Africa in some way. This isn’t a complex situation at all, #Starlink needs to adhere to SA laws and they need to give as much as they believe that they are going to get. On this one I have to side with the government. The South African government's cautious approach to Starlink reflects a stance of commitment to responsible development of SA’s industry. While the technology offers exciting possibilities, ensuring fair competition, protecting consumers, and addressing affordability concerns like data security are crucial. We all want better and cheaper internet but the developmental cost of that can’t burden SA in the long term. Otherwise what's the point? Let’s chat in the comments.
