Huddle up in-house legal friends, I have a secret about flex legal talent (and a brag😀) One question that I get all of the time is “how many attorneys do you have in your network/bench/pool” The answer is we have thousands of vetted and ready-to-rock attorneys across the country daily. But the reality (and the secret) — the size of our candidate pool is important, but it’s not that important. Our network is constantly growing and changing. We are vetting hundreds of new folks each week, some folks in our network go in a new direction, others who went in a new direction are coming back home 🤗. It’s ever-evolving. We could have every single attorney in the world vetted and we still could be terrible, because that’s not where the magic happens. The magic happens in knowing our attorneys so well that when an opportunity comes in, we know who is the perfect for it. The secret is in the vetting. The secret is in knowing our clients so well that we can see behind the substance of the work. The secret is in the boring stuff like keeping our systems organized. The secret is in the match. I’m proud of the size of our attorney candidate pool. It is important. But I’m more proud and what’s more important is that we know what great looks like for each client & each attorney. #legalservices #legalops #inhousecounsel

Emma: "Sure, I will ask several experts in our team and probably cross-check with Freshfields to get their expertise and get back to you by next Friday. We have all the resources and tools to handle this efficiently." Internal Request: "Thanks, Emma. We appreciate your support." Legal Counsel at a Scale-Up: Legal Counsel: "This is Emma" Internal Request: "Hi Emma, we need help with this contract, and we need it yesterday." Emma: "Hi, it's 10 pm and I'm swamped with multiple urgent tasks, I have to prepare the Due Diligence by finding all documents in our gdrive and have no extra help. Let me see what I can do." Internal Request: "We need this ASAP. The business depends on it. We count on you" Emma: "..." 👏🏻 Kudos to all the legal counsels at scale-ups who navigate immense pressure and limited resources to keep the wheels turning! I know how challenging this can be!
