Ranked #15 CX Leader, globally (CX Magazine). LinkedIn Top Voice. I help companies drive revenue, reduce costs, and improve culture.
One of the most critical skills for CX leaders, and this has been true for as long as I can remember, is the skill of ‘influence’. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say many in the role approach this through a data-led strategy. Here’s an example: you have data on what customers want through surveys; therefore, you can use this to influence change in your organization. Here’s a little secret: it doesn’t work that way. How do you influence then? (Glad you asked.) Reciprocity: Offer assistance or valuable resources to others. This will create a sense of obligation to reciprocate. Important to note that you need to keep score here. If the other side doesn’t reciprocate, move on. Social Proof: Gain and express support from others. This demonstrates that your ideas have backing and are worth considering. Alignment: Align your requests with the existing beliefs and objectives of the individual you need to influence. This will foster agreement and support. Give it a try. Let me know how it goes. #cx #customerexperience #leadership #influence

A lot of companies boast about their "mature" CX. But how much does that self-confidence truly reflect what's actually happening on the ground? Are your leaders and frontline staff in sync about your CX strengths and weaknesses? Or is there a disconnect? Eecutives often have a rosier view of their CX than employees dealing with customers every day. The truth lies somewhere in between – in the gap between what your team thinks is happening and the reality customers experience. Misaligned teams lead to inconsistent experiences, breeding distrust both inside and out. You can't fix what you don't see objectively. Conduct a brutally honest assessment that compares leadership perception to the day-to-day reality your employees face. Only then can you start making CX improvements that actually matter. What's ONE question you could ask your frontline staff to uncover hidden CX problems? #customerexperience #management #strategy

I'm delighted to share Gagen MacDonald's new white paper, Five Priorities in 2024 for Human-Centric Leaders. We firmly believe that organizations centered around people are best positioned to flourish in these dynamic times, so you’ll see we take a people-first approach to these topics. In the paper, several of my Gagen MacDonald colleagues share recommended actions that leaders can take to be more effective across five priority areas: 1. Advancing from Change Strategies to Adoption Strategies 2. Resetting and Recasting the People Manager Role 3. Broadening the Aperture Around Returning to Work 4. Integrating AI: The CCO’s New Frontier 5. Aligning and Navigating Ever-Conflicting Stakeholder Priorities As we lead through disruption in 2024, let’s engage in dialogue, share insights, and build a future where work transcends boundaries. I look forward to your comments and feedback. https://bit.ly/3wxw4US #2024trends #culture #humancentricleadership
