Continuous Content Refinement of Topics Based on User Interests
Issued US US9996620B2
The basic concept is that we allow users to continuously refine the scope of the interests they are consuming content against by suggesting related keywords and extracting keywords/tags from the types of content they are consuming. This refinement will result in compound interests with a higher specificity. This process will aid users in both the discovery of new content and also the refinement of existing interests.

Added interests reveal related topics and the content that is surfaced with this interest show extracted keywords (related interests) from that particular content. This process has the following advantages:
Content Discovery:
This process helps show you things around your subject manner you have never considered.
Continuous Interest Refinement:
When a related subject manner comes up the user has the option to combine it with the parent interest or create a brand new topic/interest.
Persistence of expressed interests and related content:
Unlike a typical search these interests and related data stay with you throughout the viewing experience allowing you to refine your interest at anytime while content is consumed.Other inventorsSee patent -

Use Case: A user is reading an article about "Barack Obama" on techcrunch.com and then this invention extracts the key terms from techcrunch.com and gives an option to the user to read more about "Barack Obama" and other related terms in the social sphere. If the user highlights the widget it will display related content within a carousel from many different sources.
The widget that displays this content can easily be installed on any page with a simple javascript include. It also allows the developer to narrow the scope of the content to extract relevant terms from.
