Profile Photo

Adding a photograph to your profile helps your current and potential connections recognize you. You can use an illustration, caricature, or other artistic rendering of yourself, but your profile photo must reflect your likeness. We may remove profile photos that don’t comply with our User Agreement and Professional Community Policies, including images that consist solely of the following:

  • Company logos
  • Emojis
  • Landscapes
  • Animals
  • Words or phrases
  • Flags
  • Childhood or baby photos
  • Others’ likenesses, including stock imagery, photos of celebrities, and depictions of fictional characters

Background Photo

Adding a background photo to your profile can make your professional story more visually appealing. The background photo appears behind your profile photo in the introduction section on your profile. Just like your profile photo, the background photo you select may be removed by LinkedIn if it doesn't comply with our User Agreement and Professional Community Policies.

If we remove your photo, you can upload a different photo to replace it. If you have questions about why your photo was removed, please contact us.
