We're #TrimbleProud of Mohan Lall, Product Manager of Mobile Mapping, who is also a gifted musician. Inspired by the auditory landscape of Trimble technology, he composed and recorded this original song. The track features sampled sound effects from the Trimble X9, the industrial hum of heavy machinery, and the ambient noise of office soundscapes. Additionally, Mohan reimagined the voice of Trimble Access and incorporated vintage synthesizers from the '80s, paying homage to Trimble's long history. Mohan took the stage to kick off Dimensions with a live extended dance mix performance of his song, accompanied by this video. Our thought leadership and can-do spirit were on display at the #TrimbleDimensions and SketchUp #3DBC2024 user conference Wednesday as panels of Trimble leaders, partners and industry experts tackled some of the major challenges and opportunities facing our customers. Workforce development remains a key concern for builders. PwC’s Jamie Traynor and Trimble’s Ian Warner led a conversation on potential solutions for this chronic supply and demand problem and offered practical advice for companies to improve recruitment and retention. Their infectious spirit backstage carried over to their discussion onstage before a responsive audience. Supply chain risk is another continuing concern post-pandemic as geopolitical tensions and economic headwinds prompt increased “right-shoring” and a “pipeline versus project” approach to procurement. PwC’s Michael Whitman and Omar Rahman presented a detailed review of both risks and mitigation strategies for companies concerned about the availability of materials. Hot topics including artificial intelligence and interoperability were also covered in Wednesday’s Spotlight Live sessions. Trimble’s Michael Tadros and Karoliina Torttila led a discussion on how AI models and agents are starting to transform AEC. Their panel urged companies to engage with the new tools, to experiment and fail fast, then slowly and carefully expand their implementation while keeping humans in the loop. Trimble’s Cyndee Hoagland hosted a conversation with the trio of partners from Autodesk, Esri and Trimble who have transformed the way Caltrans and other U.S. state departments of transportation manage assets throughout the design, build and operate lifecycle. Innovation was the big winner in Las Vegas on Tuesday as some of the world’s most promising AEC technology startup companies competed at the #TrimbleDimensions and SketchUp #3DBC2024 user conference. Pitch Day at Dimensions and 3D Basecamp brought together seasoned venture capitalists with 17 innovative startups seeking to raise their visibility, attract potential backers, and vie for cash prizes of up to $35,000. While each of them is putting the “next” in “new next now” in their own unique way, only a select few could be declared winners. In the Construction Startup Competition, Sodex Innovations took first place for its high-tech hardware that turns construction machines into mobile surveyors. In the SketchUp 0-60 Challenge, ScaffPlan won for its software platform that creates scaffolding plans for SketchUp designs.
