This morning, the JTA and the City of Jacksonville’s Planning, Development and Public Works Departments came together to plant a live oak tree at one of our bus stops near the Westbrook Library. 🌳 This marks a significant step forward in improving Jacksonville's green infrastructure. By planting trees at key locations, such as our bus stops, we are actively reducing the urban heat footprint and creating a more sustainable, comfortable environment for our community and customers.

Join us for a public meeting to discuss the proposed Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Master Plan and Zoning Overlay for PHOENIX Arts & Innovation District. The meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to learn about the TOD Overlay and share valuable feedback on the proposed development standards, goals and objectives. Today, the Jacksonville Transportation Authority was privileged to participate in the Jacksonville #VeteransDay Parade through our downtown streets. Bus Operator & Army Veteran, Kendarius Fitzpatrick, drove our specially wrapped bus, as part of our partnership with City of Jacksonville Military Affairs & Veterans Outreach.  To all of our veterans and active-duty military personnel, thank you for your service. Your courage and dedication inspire us every day of the year.

Today, we unveiled new artwork created by local artists at seven shelters along the Northwest Corridor as part of our efforts to improve amenities at more than 100 bus stops. Jacksonville artists were invited to submit their artwork for consideration in this important project. The submissions were shared with the community and the artwork of Erin Kendrick, Christopher Clark, and Keith Doles was selected for these installations. The new artwork is designed to enhance the rider experience and contribute to a more vibrant culture in the area. 🚏🎨

We recently hosted an incredible Community Pulse meeting, where our CEO, Nat Ford had the opportunity to connect with key stakeholders from the Eastside community. Representatives from Historic Eastside CDC, LIFTJAX, Goodwill of North Florida, Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) and VyStar Credit Union were pulled together as there is a substantial amount of revitalization and collaboration happening in the Eastside including the recent launch of The Corner at Debs Store. A special thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to making this gathering a success!

Congratulations to these two outstanding individuals for their recognition from the Florida Public Transportation Association (FPTA)! Richard Ballard has been awarded first place as Florida’s Bus Technician of the Year, and Sherman Polydore has earned third place as Florida’s Paratransit Technician of the Year. Their dedication and expertise greatly enhance our community's public transportation system. We are proud to celebrate their achievements and the positive impact they have made. Well done!
