Guiding You To BETTER

About us

The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System (HRHS) story began when community benefactors and leaders formed Hannibal’s first hospitals - Levering Hospital in 1903 and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in 1914. The merger of these two organizations in the late 1980s led to another major milestone in the evolution of strong community-based healthcare. In 1993 the new Hannibal Regional Hospital opened its doors on a pastoral 105-acre setting which is now a thriving healthcare campus. The beautifully appointed medical campus currently includes Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal Regional Medical Group, Hannibal Regional Foundation, and the James E. Cary Cancer Center. The Hannibal Regional Healthcare System team is nearly 1,000 strong and is mission-driven, values-based and committed to preserving the vision and legacy of our founders. Our team takes pride in continuing to create and strengthen access to community-based, contemporary healthcare resources for patients, families, and the communities we serve.

Bobi Davis is a kind-hearted and energetic person who pours her love into caring for others. Whether she’s spending time with her husband, two kids, or three grandchildren, or supporting her patients as a Patient Care Tech, Bobi is always putting others first. When Bobi’s A1C did not meet the health insurance requirements for her yearly biometric screening, she knew it was time to take a closer look at her own health. About 15 years ago, Bobi was diagnosed with diabetes. It was not until recently, after becoming ill with an autoimmune disease, that she started to have issues with her A1C. Bobi was referred to a team member health coach her walked her through the basics of understanding and managing diabetes. Motivated to take control of her health, she was then introduced to the Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center. Bobi began meeting with Jamie Cook, Registered Nurse and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist and Kristy Taylor, Registered Dietitian Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist at Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center. After just four sessions with Jamie, Bobi was on the path to success. She learned how to manage her blood sugars and address the underlying health issues she was facing. Bobi shares, “I cannot believe the difference Jamie and Kristy from the Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center made in my life. I was given the knowledge and tools to take control of my health, and it has truly changed the way I live. They provided me with resources like books, handouts, and even portion control cups. Jamie even taught me how to read food labels and what to look for when grocery shopping. Thanks to the help I received, my blood sugars are now normal, and I feel better than ever.” With the support and education from the Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center, Bobi made lifestyle changes that resulted in normal blood sugars and a 40-pound weight loss. She continues to work on improving her health and encourages others to seek help to make positive changes in their lives. Reflecting on her journey, Bobi says, “I want to encourage others who may be struggling with diabetes to reach out to the Diabetes Center at Hannibal Regional. It’s hard to admit you need help, but your health is so important, and taking that step to improve it is worth it. Don’t be afraid to make that call and talk to Jamie and Kristy about your health, it just might change your life. It sure changed mine for the better.” In honor of Diabetes Awareness Month, Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center is offering a free "Ask the Experts" Diabetes Seminar on November November 14, from 5:00-6:00 pm at the Hannibal Regional Medical Group Conference Center. Space is limited and it is recommended to RSVP. For more information or to RSVP, please call the Diabetes Center at To learn more about the Hannibal Regional Diabetes Center, call 573-629-3382.

Hannibal Regional is excited to announce the arrival of the Ion Endoluminal System, a cutting-edge robotic-assisted platform from Intuitive - creators of the da Vinci surgical system. This new technology marks a major step forward in minimally invasive lung biopsy techniques. With over 20 years of expertise behind it, the Ion system offers unparalleled increased precision, extended reach, and enhanced stability, surpassing traditional bronchoscopy techniques - whether or not electromagnetic navigation is used. Its ability to navigate deep into the structures of the lung makes it an invaluable new technology in accessing hard-to-reach tissue samples, allowing for more reliable diagnoses. Dr. Jennifer Minoff, pulmonologist at Hannibal Regional Medical Group, shares, “The introduction of the Ion Endoluminal System goes beyond a technological upgrade—it reaffirms our commitment to delivering exceptional care. This innovation allows us to perform more accurate, minimally invasive biopsies, enhancing patient experiences by reducing the need for repeat procedures and speeding up diagnosis and treatment.” Lung cancer remains the world’s leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but early detection drastically improves survival rates. Patients diagnosed at the earliest stage (IA-1) have a 92% average five-year survival rate. Hannibal Regional’s new investment in the Ion system’s precision-guided biopsy capabilities offers enhanced early-stage detection allowing for faster, life-saving interventions. To schedule an appointment with Dr. Minoff call (573) 629-3500.

After years of battling heart disease, Missie finally found the expert care she needed at Hannibal Regional, where Dr. Torres successfully repaired a heart blockage she’d been told was impossible to fix. “I was skeptical because I had been told by so many doctors that it couldn't be done,” Missie admits, “but Dr. Torres looked me in the eye and said, ‘There is nothing I can or can’t do that isn’t God’s will.' Being a strong believer that all things are possible through God, I felt reassured that he could do exactly what he said.” Her inspiring story shows how expert care close to home can make all the difference.
