The only difference really is our perception! Each year, over 600 million turkeys are farmed in our food system—46 million during Thanksgiving alone. Most of us never get to know or even meet a turkey, so we don't see how amazing, loving, and affectionate these birds can be! When turkeys have the chance to live free, their personalities shine through. Help change Thanksgiving for turkeys this year when you #AdoptATurkey with your one-time gift of $35! Like the dogs we welcome into our homes, turkeys deserve to feel love, too! Adopt today. Be sure to let us know which feathered friend you chose! https://bit.ly/4hIF8JE

EXCITING UPDATE: After a historic vote, Berkeley, California, is the first city in the U.S. to ban factory farming! 🎉 Measure DD will ban Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations (CAFOs), which are large-scale industrial farms created to keep up with the ever-increasing demand for animal products from cows, chickens, and pigs. In the U.S., 99% of animals are factory farmed—meaning these animals have limited or no access to outside, and spend most of their lives confined in cages. It's time other cities follow in Berkeley's steps. Learn more here: https://bit.ly/3AuD7QL

Who would've thought turkeys are so cuddly? 🦃 Many people have never spent time with a turkey, so they often think they're mean, aggressive, or even scary. But once you get to know a turkey—you'll realize they're loving, gentle birds (some even love hugs!) who are misunderstood and deserve so much better. Get to know turkeys better when you symbolically #AdoptATurkey with Farm Sanctuary! You can support these beautiful beings by symbolically adopting one this Thanksgiving with a one-time gift of $35. Tap the link in our bio to meet our spokesturkeys — and be sure to let us know whom you adopt! 💚 https://bit.ly/3CDr5F2

It's time to meet your turkey soulmate! You may have more in common with a turkey than you know. Over 600 million turkeys are farmed each year in our food system, and yet, most of us never get the chance to know—or even meet—these remarkable birds. When turkeys have a chance to live free, their unique personalities can shine through, and some of them may be a lot like you! Through our Adopt a Turkey Project, thousands of people are introduced to these clever, curious, and social birds each holiday season. Take our quick quiz to see which one of this year’s Adopt a Turkey “spokesturkeys” is most like you (then you’ll have a chance to learn more about your new friend): https://bit.ly/3AMdQkT

Ashley lamb just celebrated her first birthday! Last fall, Ashley lamb was born safe at sanctuary after her mom, Nirva, was rescued from a heartbreaking case leading to 90 counts of felony animal cruelty. Ashley would've faced a far different fate if her mother hadn't been rescued. Most lambs like Asgley are slaughtered in the U.S.A. within seven months of birth—meaning they're just babies. Instead, Ashley will never experience pain, fear, or neglect at the hands of humans. At sanctuary, she's celebrated and loved for who she is, not what she can produce. 💚

Sponsor Serena, our resident Swiftie! Serena was born on a small farm, where she was subjected to animal cruelty, such as painful and traumatic debeaking. If things went as planned, Serena would’ve become a holiday meal. Instead, she was rescued just in time and got a second chance at Farm Sanctuary. Because one person saw Serena as someone—not something—she’s learned what it’s like to be loved and cared for in a way most turkeys will never know. Our care team discovered Serena loves music, especially Taylor Swift! Her favorite song is “All Too Well,” and she lights up as soon as she hears the tune. If you want to support Serena, speak now and make a difference in her life today! Tap the link below to help provide Serena’s ongoing care with a one-time gift of $35. https://bit.ly/40AVKNv

Each Thanksgiving season, a turkey (two in recent years) is “pardoned” in a ceremony held at the White House, as the U.S. President declares that the bird will not be slaughtered for Thanksgiving—but what happens next? Yes, the annual presidential pardon draws some attention to the usual fate of farmed turkeys, but when it comes to raising awareness of the suffering birds endure on factory farms, the pardon barely scratches the surface. The problem is that the pardon is little more than a photo opp, ultimately making light of a holiday for which approximately 46 million turkeys are killed—and not guaranteeing sanctuary for even the birds who are pardoned. To our knowledge, no pardoned turkey has ever gone on to a sanctuary—but you can help us change that. Help bring this year’s pardoned turkeys to Farm Sanctuary by signing our petition here: https://bit.ly/48DXE1Q

It’s time to adopt this year’s flock! 🦃 38 years ago, Farm Sanctuary CEO, President, and Co-founder Gene Baur created a new Thanksgiving tradition for turkeys through our #AdoptATurkey project! In the early days, Gene drove cross-country to place adoptable turkeys in their new homes. As the movement grew, the number of people who wanted to start a new tradition did, too—and soon, more people than ever (thousands!) could welcome turkeys into their homes through our sponsorships. Because of Adopt A Turkey, people began to see turkeys for who they are—loving, intelligent beings worthy of love just as much as anyone else. While 46 million turkeys in the U.S. will be killed just for Thanksgiving, you can make a difference for turkeys with a one-time $35 gift to help provide daily care and support our ongoing rescue, education, and advocacy efforts. Meet the flock today: https://bit.ly/4fwT3AR
