The JTA Skyway is a 2.5-mile long, elevated monorail system that glides high above the busy streets of Downtown Jacksonville, crossing the St. Johns River to Kings Avenue on the Southbank. The fully automated Skyway features eight stations — five on the Downtown Northbank and three on the Southbank — providing convenient access to business, government, restaurants, shops, museums and entertainment venues.
Traveling via the Skyway is comfortable and efficient with quiet, climate-controlled, non-polluting vehicles departing stations at four-minute intervals during peak hours and at eight-minute intervals during off-peak hours. In addition to electronic message boards with real-time arrival and departure times, all Skyway stations are monitored by closed-circuit television and fully equipped with two-way voice communication and video cameras.
In keeping with JTA’s original people mover plan, convenient Park-n-Ride lots are located near the Jefferson and Kings Avenue stations enabling employees, residents and visitors to leave their vehicles on the periphery of the Downtown area and travel in and out of the core without the hassles of traffic or parking. Since JTA’s buses connect to the Skyway, passengers have complete flexibility to travel beyond Downtown to virtually anywhere JTA travels.
The Skyway is a complimentary service. There is no charge.
