MARTA MOVES ALMOST 750,000 CUSTOMERS OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND
ATLANTA - The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) moved close to 750,000 people over Labor Day weekend, making it one of the busiest of the year. With major events like Dragon Con, the Aflac Kickoff Classic, and the highly anticipated matchup between Georgia State and Georgia Tech dubbed “the MARTA Bowl” on social media, this past weekend highlighted MARTA’s vital role in moving a lot of people through downtown Atlanta safely and efficiently.
Dragon Con, Atlanta’s premier pop culture convention, attracted tens of thousands of visitors, many of whom relied on MARTA to get around the city, costumes and all! The weekend’s football games also drew large crowds, with fans choosing MARTA for easy access to both Mercedes-Benz and Bobby Dodd stadiums. Throughout the weekend, MARTA maintained its commitment to safety, reliability, and customer experience, with enhanced operations to manage the increased demand.
“We are thrilled to have moved almost 750,000 customers over Labor Day weekend,” said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood. “Our team worked hard to ensure that every rider had a smooth and comfortable experience. This strong ridership reaffirms MARTA as the transportation choice for major events, and we are grateful for the ongoing support from our customers.”
