Rickover: The Birth of Nuclear Power (2014)
Did they have to pay the actors?
The acting and dialog were both terrible. It's an interesting story. "I'll wait for the book to come out."
The Bridge on the River Kwai (1957)
Classic Only in Its Lack of Accuracy
I'm not sure why it's considered a classic. Other than the fact that there was a British Colonel in a Japanese POW camp where the soldiers were forced to build a bridge, I can't think of a single part of the movie that was accurate.
The Colonel didn't collaborate. He did sabotage. He encouragd escapes. He didn't separate officers in room and board. He didn't refuse to work, because he knew they'd be immediately killed. He wasn't the idiot this movie protrayed him as.
The Japanese Col. Was actually a semidecent person and was second in command.
6/10 only because the cinematography and acting were excellent.
Blue Bloods: Guardian Angels (2021)
Hopefully not indicative of Blue Bloods' Direction
This was the worst episode of Blue Bloods in the last 11 seasons.
Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011)
Powerful albeit not necessarily a thriller
Considering the book was written in 1957, and the chance of us being reduced to rail travel is small (granted AOC is doing her best to reduce us to that), the movie creators did a great job of turning the book into a more modern movie. I can't say it's the absolute most exciting movie in the world, but it ended with me wanting to watch the second (and eventually the third) one.
People who detract from the worldview that the plot displays simply don't understand. This is not an anti-worker story. Far from it. If you watch through the third one, you see that this is a pro-worker story. It's a story all about rewarding hard workers from the bottom to the top. The story just shows how those people can't be rewarded when the government steps in and domineers the market.
