This Is Me... Now: A Love Story (2024)
How self-absorbed can you be?
I don't even know, how to start.
This is the most pretentious BS I've ever seen.
It seems totally clear that JLo did this in a total attack of vanity, drunk on her own magnificence, encouraged by her beau - or was he forced to be involved?
There is absolutely nothing going on beside her singing lame pop songs and trying to be passed off for 30.
Even her friends here are only around <30, and she is also "acting" like a twenty-something. She is a beautiful, gorgeous woman - even without all that filters - where is the point of this?
I felt second hand embarrassing for that successful grown up woman that seems to depend on staying 30 forever.
The Plot is as thick as a phrase in a poetry album/friendship book, and an insult to intelligence.
There is not one scene without her in the whole "movie", even in the credits her face is next to the names of everyone! By the way: What drew Jane Fonda into this crap?
If there would have been a tiny bit of self-irony, there would be hope. But this project's whole nature is doggedness, vanity...and despair.
El silencio (2023)
Really?
Nothing makes sense in this movie when you think about it. Neither the structure nor the story and the bad story telling. I won't even get started on the nonsensical details and plot tholes and borrowed settings and ideas from other films. A bunch of generic bad guys hang around here and there, but they seem like caricatures. They even made a crappy cliffhanger, that has no equal (oh, here is the unique feature, yeah!)
I can imagine what they were trying to create, but it just didn't work - at any level.
The aesthetics are okay, but even this is something what lets you wonder where you have seen this or that before.
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Gimmick
At first, that movie seems entertaining to look at, but it is a one-trick pony with not much substance. It is like talking about an idea over and over again with no outcome.
The actors do well, outfitting, film equipping and stage managing also do but well...but it goes on and on and on and on, nice idea here, funny gag there and then it ends.
And It leaves me with the feeling of betray. I expected it to be much more deep, I felt even entitled to get more out of this while watching.
This movie is pretentious but in the same time it is still likable.
Maybe, I'm just not able to vibe with the hype: Solid 6 out of 10.
Scare Me (2020)
It is so boring...lame...and not funny...
...that I totally don't know how to get 600 required characters to describe this Movie:
It is lame and boring and also not funny, totally boring, lame and absolutely not funny. It also is super lame, and boring. Some might say it is not funny at all. It would have been nice, if it was not that boring.
But it was. And also lame. Perhaps if it was funny, it wouldn't have been boring. But, nevertheless, perhaps lame. It is just not funny. And it is lame. I think it is also boring. But hey, it is not funny at all! No way, it is funny! But lame, like boring-lame, you know? So lame, you get bored a lot, but without any fun.
The Little Things (2021)
Please be lenient: It's nostalgia
This is not just set in the 90s, it is "made" in the 90s. All these stories had been told long ago in a certain way, and it's impossible to make a new Seven or The Silence of the Lambs - not to mention the impact at the time of release. What works here is: You can make a little mean story with all the old acquaintances in which you can try to catch that specific mood and atmosphere of the 90s thrillers. And this is The Little things strength and, well perhaps, it's dignity. If you miss these thrillers from long ago, enjoy the time travel.
Timm Thaler oder Das verkaufte Lachen (2017)
No. Nonono.
This is just to forget just after watching. They transformed a special series to fit the expectations from today - or what they think the expectationas are.
Just go for the original with its uique style, athmosphere and soundtrack from a time when they dared to go a new direction.
Sleep Has Her House (2017)
This is something else...
...more an unforgettable experience than a film. It is nothing you just can watch with friends and chat and check your phone etc. I would strongly recommend to see it alone with no distraction and handle it a bit like a meditation.
Give it it's time and stay tuned what your mind will show you!
You (2018)
Don't get fooled by the high rating - hyped by a certain target audience
I guess in this case to understand the rating you have to ask yourself who will watch and vote for this little series.
Ok, it is better than Gossip Girl but not this much. Penn Badgley ist just Humphrey as we know him with...I can't even say with a dark twist.
There is not a bit of thriller feeling, no horror, no uneasiness when you watch this show. Strictly speaking: There is no atmosphere at all. The story sort of aimlessly drifts along only interrupted by the implausible behaviour of Humphrey (and in fact everybody else).
This show is entertaining. It really is! If it is assumed you can enjoy it as fun because of it's own awkward clumsiness and you like to guess how stupid this will end.
All in all I don't think there are too many people who take this serious.
In this sense: XOXO
