I Am Shakespeare: The Henry Green Story (2017)
Powerful, Poignant & Profound!
Henry Green is an amazing subject and human. He is incredibly powerful and inspirational. He humanizes the issues of our time. Why are people still judging others by their skin color? I loved the style of filmmaking. It is beautifully photographed and raw. This film revealed a deep, thoughtful person that begs the question why are we so shallow? Why do we judge people based on stereotypes? It forces us to grapple with our own humanity by revealing Henry's. This is a remarkable story about a remarkable person. It encourages us to evolve and I hope we can honor him and do just that. Bravo to the filmmakers for this important, moving, and powerful piece.

A Killer Rising (2020)
Dark, Intense & Female Powered
This film has some very dark, intense moments. It opens with a harrowing scene that allows up to understand the protagonists actions as the film progresses. The female lead gives an edgy, real performance and has the courage to show us her ugly side. She has a tough presence that we don't often see in films. This film is a difficult journey into the mind of a traumatized person but the dynamic performances, and powerful drama definitely make it worth the ride.

Dirty Beautiful (2015)
Revel in the beauty of love!
This delightful movie is about a tortured writer and a woman who turns his life upside down. It made me laugh, cry, and revel in the beauty of life. A writer wants an intimate relationship so badly and is attracted to an intriguing woman who is experiencing homelessness. It's a raw and intimate story that you can't turn away from. It also explores some tough themes of homelessness and toxic masculinity with adept humor.
Bravo to the filmmaker for sharing this fun and inspiring story. Definitely a life-affirming journey told with humor- especially needed in these trying times. The intimate filmmaking, honest performances, and lovely music make it a must-see for all. I highly recommend it!
Into the Void (2019)
Love In The Time Of The Apocalypse
This film is incredibly timely. I really appreciated that it's a love story between a husband and wife above all else. The zombies act as a metaphor for miscommunication between the two main characters. I like the construct of the narrative and was emotionally invested in the lonely journey the husband was on. His alienation was palpable and film offers plenty of striking visuals to get lost in. The husband is a bit of a hopeless romantic, which is a refreshing character in this type of genre. I especially enjoyed the truthful moments and yearning for connection. Well done!
I Want to Believe (2020)
Entertaining and Informative!
This is a subject that I have always wanted to know more about. The Filmmaker did a great job distilling all the information into a coherent narrative. The film was very easy to follow, had a great pace and interesting interviews. I enjoyed some of the visuals and the film does not spoon-feed or preach. I also appreciated the inclusion of various timelines and that the information is very recent and up to date. I also really liked some of the spiritual quotes included in the storytelling. I definitely recommend this to anyone who has an interest in the subject!
