Shark Tank India (2021)
Redefining indian reality shows
Shark Tank itself is an insanely great concept and portrays the growth of business ecosystem within a country. While the country has seen numerous shows and movies throughout covid impacted years, this show brings back the very nostalgia of watching a show and discussing it once completed with your family and friends.
Indian reality shows have struggled for the longest time due to their inability to be relevant and finding the right tone between reality and fabricated drama, this show blends perfectly in between.
The show lies right between knowledge and curiosity, and continues to be relevant with each episode, for example indian middle class doesn't have underwear options or producing in bulk for cheaper output doesn't necessarily lead to profitability. It not only brings to the table a conversation about the companies, but how various sharks operate through their behaviour, with almost each one offering a varying approach to the same deal.
Indians love shelling out opinions and the show gives numerous opportunities to everyone, while also being appropriately created to fulfill vanity, giving just the right amount of behind the scenes to keep a viewer engaged. It provides motivation to problem solvers/innovators and a different outlook to people who considered job as a life long option.
Having covered all the great points, I still believe the show has a lot to learn in departments like editing, music and online marketing. From random scene cuts to inappropriate background score, this show fails to capture as much audience as it deserves on YouTube. Perhaps all sharks were not given screentime or some of them were not interesting enough for the idiot box. The release pattern on youtube again is an issue, since it often ends up displaying a release date of a week prior and doesn't open all-episodes playlist. Still a great great show overall.
Hamara Bar Happy Hour (2021)
Great plot, please don't please the audience though
I highly appreciate the fact that we finally have someone start writing shows, taking inspiration from great stuff like Always Sunny, having a social mockumentary in the most satirical manner while also pleasing the audience. But please don't suck up, please don't create a love angle between Pranay & Kriti already, address in the manner you did in first couple of eps like Fuddu being the wildcard and making random jokes about it. Or show the fact that the group themselves would save the bar in front of Shalom ji in suv an emotional manner. Address it in a jovial manner like these guys going in and demanding money, while shalom ji shuts them off.
