This moderately unusual mystery is a slight departure from the usual Father Brown storylines, yet still very much the same format. Whilst I wish the season had had more Edgar/Isobel humour like the previous two, all the simmering drama of the last ten episodes is finally resolved, and quite a bit more besides. Several issues relevant to that era are covered, whilst all still relatable today to differing extents, depending on your situation.
I find it really interesting to have Sullivan in this newer, wider narrative since his return, building on the original stint whilst giving him a lot more than the policing to get his head around. Seeing this couple navigate their changing contexts has really brought a lot to the series. Whilst I liked the first decade for focusing on the regular individuals' lives, not romances like many shows, Isobel and Edgar have won me over.

This fun episode was an episode full of fun - just what we needed after a stressful day of stress. Felicia's novel novel made us laugh like viewers laughing at a fun episode of Father Brown and her trademark scream was a scream, answering our prayers like prayers being answered. We really enjoyed seeing this old friend popping back like an old friend popping back and Lady Montague really sparkled like something really sparkly.
There are so many great characters now in the Browniverse, that I'd love more spin-offs eg The Montagues and/or Devine & Sullivan, not necessarily as murder mysteries, but comedy dramas.
