If you love horror movies, this one can be entertaining to you. If you have watched similar movies, this one can be quite original till the horrendous ending.
First, the best here is Hugh Grant interpretation. Great monologues and pretty credible as the main character. The other cast are just OK. Nothing remarkable here.
Second, settings can be a little odd. Even they try to be claustrophobic, they are not. I mean, some of them looked pretty bad/fake.
Last, the script is interesting till half of the movie. Then it becames weird and non credible. The ending ruins everything you have watched before.
So, overall if you want something predictable but entertaining this one is for you. If you love Hugh Grant too. On the other hand, if you want an original, twisted great horror movie, this one it is not. Watch The Cabin in The Woods instead.

I am not discovering in 2025 Julianne Moore. She is one of the most talented women in the industry. I think she will be remembered for several roles, but I discovered her in Hannibal. Great interpretation even Jodie Foster's shadow.
Here in Echo Valley, Julianne Moore interpret the role of a tired mother, who loves her daughter, even she is problematic. Not an original story, and not a great addition to the genre, but still watchable because of the great cast. Sydney Sweeney, is great here too, even sometimes tries to exaggerate her character.
So, overall a good thriller if you haven't watched similar movies, and entertaining if you know several similar movies.

The movie itself is average being generous. The story is simple, characters are empty and the camera work and the setting (A house) does not work as a whole.
First, Sodenberg has really good movies. For example Traffic. I can't believe he directed Presence too. What a letdown. The script was written by a 7 years old. Simple slow story, where almost nothing happens in 90 minutes. And the *twist* is a joke.
Second, the cast does just an OK job here, because of the unlikeable characters. I didn't root for anyone.
Last, this movie could have been a masterpiece just recording it in one shot. Just to be unique and decent.
Anyway I recommend this movie if you haven't watched similar movies or you were born after 2005. Then, maybe you'll enjoy. If not, watch The sixth sense instead.
