An okay but not terribly exciting episode that spotlights Linc's pursuit and romance of a DMV worker named Ann Gibbon played by Janet McLaughlin who went on to play reporter Lynne Sutter -- frenemy to CAGNEY & LACEY.
The first part of the episode is almost whimsical as Linc pulls one childish stunt after another to win Ann's attention. After he succeeds, some of the dialog sounds like something out of a 1950s Joan Crawford melodrama, though. There is also a slow-motion romance sequence at a lake.
Mia Fullmore, who plays Ann's daughter Katie gives a very natural performance for a child actress. Oddly, this was her only acting credit.
Classic TV fans will enjoy Maudie Prickett as the prickly DMV clerk and Allan Melvin as a private detective.
Not much in the way of exciting crime drama in this one, but it is one of Clarence Williams III best performances on the show.
