15/Love (2004)
Favourite Show right now!
One night, bored and alone in my house, I was flipping through the channels and I stumbled across this show. I was expecting one of those classic overly cheesy (and generally bad) YTV shows that that station simply must be infamous for by now. Instead, what I found was a rather interesting, and of course, overly cheesy YTV show. But I ended up being really drawn to the characters. This is not just my random attraction to Squib talking either. I have actual emotions invested into this show, and frankly, that's always a good thing. Without a doubt, the saddest moment in 15/love history is the death of Meghan and Sebastien. This two part episode occurred because the actors portraying them actually passed on in real life. Them being my age adds an extra feeling of sadness. None the less, the show is well done, and if they must replace these two amazing people with anyone, I'm glad they replaced them with Tannis and Cameron. (No matter how much I loved Meghan and Sebastien, and desperately wished for the romance between the two to finally take off...)
The Bumblebee Flies Anyway (1999)
Amazing
When I was 14, out of my sheer "love" for Elijah Wood, I rented this movie. To say the least, I was pleasantly surprised with this movie. I found it to be thoroughly enjoyable and not at all the disappointment I faced after watching "Try Seventeen" (But that of course, is another comment.) Mazzo is by far my absolute favourite character in this film, and Barney is perfect (along with his two sidekicks, Billy and Ally) for helping Mazzo reach his goal of how he wanted to end his life. The love that happens between Rachel Leigh-Cook's Cassie, and Elijah Wood's Barney Snow is somewhat a reach of desperation for those two characters. We see that come out fully when the two finally embrace with a passionate (yet immensely sloppy) kiss. We as an audience are able to forgive them the mess of a kiss because it is oddly suited with the scene. All in all, an amazing film, and I would recommend it to anyone who would ask. The soundtrack, as well, is definitely worth it.
Try Seventeen (2002)
Definitely... well... special.
To say the least, "Try Seventeen" or "All I want" is definitely different. Never seen a movie like it. Which, is not exactly a good thing. With this movie, I began to wonder what had ever really made me believe that Elijah Wood could even act. Loving Mandy Moore as much as I do as an actress (for I am a sap for such a movie as "A Walk to remember")I actually ended up wanting to kick the two of them for thinking that this movie would be any good... Then I also wanted to kick myself for actually paying over twenty dollars for it. Of course, there are some interesting scenes such as when Elijah wears the cowboy hat, or that scene with the wannabe twenty year old, old woman jumping Elijah on a bed he's recently had delivered from her shop. Now that is a wonder to behold, and possibly the best reason to see this movie... That, and Elijah Wood in a cowboy hat... In general, story is severely lacking, acting is not at all up to par, and of course, just... don't bother.
Breaker High (1997)
One of my favourite shows growing up
The thing with Breaker High is that you can talk to many people (or more accurately, girls) in my age group and the majority of them will be able to tell you what they adored about the show. Being one of these girls, I literally grew up for the three years that this show ran, and was incredibly saddened by its departure. We could despise Cassidy (who we liked to say was far too thin), think that Tamira was positively adorable... Be in "love" with Max... and have a secret longing for Sean. (better recognized as Ryan Gosling). This show was funny, different than what we were used to, and really just rather addicting. One thing is... Why are there no DVDs?? Now THAT would be absolutely amazing.
