North Shore (2004)
Watched this GREAT, refreshing summer series & couldn't wait for it's return this Fall.
9-7-04 Finally a series I can really like & relate to & look fwd to seeing ea week.
Matter of fact, I actually tape it and watch over again in case I missed anything. The whole cast is fantastic, exactly as they have been chosen for their respective roles. First, I LOVE Kristoffer Polaha as Jason. The role he portrays is that of an honest, kind, respectful, ambitious, helpful integrity-keeping guy who is his own person and can't be dissuaded or bought off. How refreshing to see such qualities portrayed and these qualities actually seem to reflect Kris's personal life as well, as I look over his biography. Brook Burns is PERFECT as Nicole although she sure took her time going back to Jason. How could she hold out sooo long (groan moan). Really challenged him, no wonder he keeps pursuing her. James Remar as Vincent too is perfect. He is such a great character actor and great in this spot. I look for good things from him. Jason (another Jason, ha) is so cute, don't pay any attention to mom, I KNOW you have ambition. My mom always pressed my buttons too, but now I am self-employed and now I too am my own person like Jason Mathews. I loved the way Jason stood up to Nicole's father, although THAT seems to have cost him dearly. Walter Booth is such a control freak. And Tessa I already hate (which really proves what a great actress she is to invoke such feelings in us). The little waitress is as cute as a bug and very lovable. I really do look forward to seeing North Shore ea Monday here in Milwaukee and I do hope they keep it around for awhile. I'm so sick of cop shows, law & order; am now into the lighter side of entertainment. Real life is tense enough for me. I tune in on Mondays to get the feel of sand, surf and romance. Northshore delivers all these and Jason Mathews is MY idea of a refreshing, gorgeous, hunky and and I wish he wasn't married kinda guy who I love to fantasize about. I loved when Jason said to Vincent "I'm not a kid, and you'd better watch YOUR back or Walter Booth will take away everything you love". Couldn't a said it better myself. He kisses like a dream, lucky Tessa and Sept. 6 Nicole herself. Can't wait to see more of the romantic adventures as they progress. And by the way, Walter Booth isn't the ONLY guy out there who won't let go and that kinda thing can get pretty scary when it happens to you personally. I sure hope the ratings go thru the roof. I also intend to send a letter to Fox 6 Theatricals thru the mail, having cared enough to get their mailing address.
Best wishes North Shore.
Dead of Night (1996)
Totally enjoyable and updated horror flick
12-8-03 I can't figure out why the first comment I read was so negative. Don't people have open minds anymore? I've learned not to take critics so seriously and form my own opinion instead. Since I'm not really into horror flicks, I half expected to see someone running around with a black cape, biting random people on the neck and drinking their blood. Instead, the storyline was updated to modern times and quite interesting. JOHN ENOS who is my favorite actor did a really good job as the detective. He followed thru re the 17 year old hooker and I loved the way it ended where he honestly submitted his report to the police dept. Thank goodness for a backup partner to corroborate his findings. Kate Winslet's love scene was tastefully done. It WAS a lovestory, afterall. The only thing I would've changed was Mike asking her out to dinner, not just a burger, of course, that's just ME. Great Job JOHN ENOS. Gloria Milwaukee
Out of Control (1993)
If the narrative is schizophrenic; it also has a touch of genius- in that a college professor with tenure and promotion, is willing to put it ALL on the line for a tryst.
The first commenter mentioned being in Zalman King territory. Given the fact, that KING is damn near a genius in creating erotic films w/o being pornographic. There is a difference. Consider the setting. Downs takes notice of Dial the first day, just as he does of her and immediately sets her self-discipline aside, thinking she can play games with a psycho-killer without repercussions. Joe Dial on the other hand, even though perhaps pschotic from parent-abuse as a child; is highly intelligent. He is in a position of trust as a Trustee and pretty much accessibility to the prison surroundings (takes SOME doing to get into this position). When he corners Downs in the supply room and starts making love to her, he stops before she is able to climax; thus no WAY in hell is she not going to go to the conjugal visit, laying her whole career on the line if she is discovered. Think for a minute ALL she would be giving up, if this happened. The press would bury her. I hate to think of the damage to her reputation, not to mention the college would fire her immediately. Yet, like a moth dancing a flame, she DOES dance to the edge just as Joey had described, ignoring the consequences. AND what was LADY B. Pearl thinking? If my boyfriend wanted to sleep with another, he wouldn't be my boyfriend anymore. It was her jealousy that got Dial killed, the warden killed and the stalking started in the first place...because he no more wanted her than he wanted her choc chip cookies. This is where I first DISCOVERED John Enos seeing this flick as a rerun on late nite TV. One thing I gotta say; yeah I realize John is great looking, but there is so much MORE to him than looks. I have the ability to see great potential in things or people, whatever it is. John is intelligent, creative, sensitive, funny, and even manages to have an innocence and a great calmness about him. If the ladies ONLY see his good looks, they are missing out on ALL the REST. I for one, hope John Enos career takes off and goes places for the benefit of his fans as well as the Entertainment Industry. John Enos, like Al Pacino has great IMPACT.
Melrose Place (1992)
Would like to see this series go to DVD soon.
I was lucky enough to buy some episodes from a guy on Ebay, because I hadn't seen the series at the time it aired. My very favorite celebrity, JOHN ENOS, who played the part of Bobby Perezi, Amanda' love interest only confirmed this all the more. John looked unbelievable as this character; tall, great looking, sophisticated, intelligent, looking like a fashion ad no matter what he wore. I loved John's part, he played it so well as Vincent's going-straight (instead of following dad's lifestyle) son. A take-charge kinda guy, yet gentle, charming, loving and kind trying to make his way out of the difficult family lifestyle his father has fashioned for him and expected him to uphold. He was fantastic as Amanda's love interest. Although everyone else seemed to be sleeping around with everyone else, this did not seem to be true of Bobby. He seemed to be in love with and stuck to one woman in the person of Amanda, determined to make up to her the stress and horror that his brother Jack had inflicted on her. I loved the way he tried to accomplish that. John no matter role he plays, seems to have a strenth about him and yet is able to maintain a certain innocence which adds greatly to his charm. He has a great presence and leaves an impact on one. I noticed this the first time I saw him in Over The Line, a straight to video movie. I REALLY hope one of the movers & shakers in Hollywood notices and puts John's great talent to use. I really identified with John in Melrose Place and can see great things in his future & I'll certainly do whatever I can to support his gifted talent and career. koolgirlie
Dead Sexy (2001)
Attention grabbing crime movie with a twist at the end.
I saw this flick quite a while ago. First thing I did was buy it for my own personal collection. I really enjoy crime movies, action flicks & thrillers. Dead Sexy has all three ingredients. Although I like Shannon Tweed movies, my very favorite actor is John Enos who played Blue. John has such a great presence. You can't wait to see what he will do next. Till the very end, I kinda thought he might be the murderer, but he wasn't. John can wear clothes like no other. Loved the black suit, black shirt & blue satin tie. He's a walking fashion ad, and with his boyish charm, who wouldn't be attracted to Blue as was Grace as the cop? I got suspicious of Rickles the minute he broke into Grace's house. The only thing I had trouble figuring out was WHY Blue made her wait till he had a lap dance? Perhaps to warm her up? My first reaction would've been to walk out & leave him there...but, since he was paying Grace five thousand for the company, she didn't have much choice but to put up with it...afterall he was under the impression that she was an upscale hooker. I loved it. Thought it was suspenseful, & enjoyed the storyline. Hope to see MUCH more of John Enos in better & better roles. This guy has talent, let's not hide it under a basket. He's great looking, has a calmness about him even an innocence, and when he walks, he like glides, love his demeanor. Would love to see John Enos in his own series & other movies ONSCREEN anytime SOON. Already saw Phone Booth, another of his credits and can't wait to see his next project.
Raven Hawk (1995)
Just like the title RavenHawk, the movie showed insight into an insidious environmental problem.
I saw this awhile ago and bought the VHS for my own personal collection, because if the storyline is worthwhile I like to see it again and again. I thought Ravenhawk was good in that it called attention to an environmental problem of polluting both air and water with nuclear waste. It pointed to the problem of corruption in high places with corrupt officials who were part of the problem and heroically enough to those dedicated individuals, such as Del Wilkes played by John Enos, who persist in seeing the problem through to the solution. In the end, Del wound up killing one of the perpetrators himself, knowing the guy would be out of jail within the hour and beat the charges within a year. I'm not saying this was the answer, but John Enos did a beautiful job in the story, doing the research necessary to get to the bottom of the problem, despite interference from the Sheriff himself, whom Del later knocked out which probably caused a further investigation, since this was witnessed by yet another observer. Sadly many of these problems are solved later than sooner, but in THIS case, the plant was shut down and yet it was interesting to see that corruption continues on to this day, as some of the officials were exonerated despite wrongdoing. I thought this film drew attention to some of the problems of the American Indian on reservations as well as environmental issues. I enjoyed Rachel McLish's role, but let's not overlook JOHN ENOS contribution to the movie, because John has a real presence, makes an impact, and I for one would like to see much MORE of him in BIGGER and BETTER roles. Let's not waste this guys gifted talent.
Phone Booth (2002)
I very much enjoyed the flick and pointed out highlights as I saw them & enjoyed each player.
Finally Phone Booth opened this week and since I like do enjoy thrillers & acion flicks best; I gotta say this movie certainly qualifies. It was very exciting, an edge of your seat kinda movie. Colin Farell will probably get at least an Academy Award nomination for this next year. He did a good job. But I do hope people noticed the great looking and gifted talent of John Enos in this flick who played the part of Leon, the guy who got killed in the gold shirt. He really creates a fantastic presence and has quite a reach of talent if anyone has seen his other projects. He projects himself well and fits into this sniper theme picture so beautifully. I was totally engrossed with all the players and could see Joel Silver's fine handiwork here. I highly recommend the flick and thought it was well presented and timely in the world we live in today.
