So...i am 41 year old, grown up with star trek, star wars etc. I have been hunting for good scifi movies/shows since i can remember. It's my favourite genre.
I loved star trek TNG and the original one that i was watching when i was a kid on reruns. Found any subsequent spin offs ridiculous and gave up on them. Even the new one "Discovery"...bah its not star trek, its a boring action show.
I love firefly, WarGames, Colosus: the forbin project,10 Cloverfield Lane. I am tired of recycled ideas, cgi fests, dumped down scifi for teenagers..
Enter "The Orville". I downloaded a couple of episodes just to pass some time, having something silly playing in the background during my coding all nighters. I was expecting a galaxy quest show, some star trek parody from the family guy.
This thing sidelined me without warning...Instead of crude jokes i was bombarded with character development. Instead of toilet humour they started picking up a philosophical/social issues and devoted the whole episode on it. It even turned dark in some episodes.
"The Orville" is the truest descendant of the original Start trek and Startrek TNG, created so far. And i will go even further, knowing that i am provoking the scifi gods by committing hubris, and say that, so far this show is actually BETTER than the originals.
The reason it is better is because the originals are barely watchable today, not because of their effects/productions values but because they come from an era of political correctness. They were never "Adult" shows. There was always something naive about them. They were trying to provoke the audience but never tried to push beyond the boundaries of what should be shown on public Television.
And here comes Seth Macfarlan!!! Three years older than me, clearly a scifi buff that completely understood the formula that made the originals a success. And he clearly doesn't give a damn about political correctness :) It is obvious to me that he is making the star trek of the 21st century.
Hope this show lives long and prospers.

I will not tell u again how great the game is. The previous reviews have covered that already and i completely agree. Its been a long time since i was drawn into such a dark atmosphere. Hardcore game with lot of violence (but u get that in most of games nowadays) What makes it special is the sound and the dialogs. I was surprised by the profanity and the bad words (in how many games have u heard the word co*k?).
And a strange coincident. I finished the game yesterday and just finished watching the movie "Beyond Reanimator" (2003). It is obvious that the game draws its inspiration from that movie. Some of the monsters, the lethal ejections, the electric chamber, the doctor.....yes its all in beyond reanimator :) excellent movie by the way (in its genre)
