BAD BAD BAD! Sorry to anyone who thought this was a GOOD movie.. Hardly Believable, and compared to the fun fast pace of the First BRING IT ON, this one lacks..EVERYTHING! There was a lot of attempts at Copy-Catting the Original..We had the opening "Dream" and then there was a "Locker room scene" And there was a "Try Out" ... lastly a "competition" ... ugh...futile attempt. IMO: Sequels should NOT be made if the original Screen Writer didn't contribute, Very Important...DIRECTOR...The Original director was great! All the scenes were LIGHT...no squinting at dark scenes. Lastly, original Actors/Actresses, and if they don't participate...At least get actors/Actresses people can actually LIKE. Sorry, but Bring It On Again just didn't have Anything...Where was all the REAL Cheer leading??(noting: Exception of the "Competition") They expect the audience to Believe that a couple of disgruntled cheerleaders can have a "try out" get a bunch of activists together and uh Bribe them with the Winnings into suddenly being able to do all the moves and flips and such that Competing cheer leaders do? Sorry...Not Even. In the Immortal words of Missy....GIVE IT UP ALREADY!!
If you like cheer leading you'll like this movie! Full of catchy little cheers, funny lines and situations. It Moves Fast and Entertains Much more than was expected. Everyone who was involved with BRING IT ON brought an air of extraordinary believability to the screen. You sincerely LIKE the characters! The Writing and Direction is Genius, Music is great and the plot twists Just enough to keep you wonder, WHAT NEXT?! There are Easy Going scenes, Funny Scenes and Serious scenes. It's All About Cheerocrocy and Cheer Crisis! :-) I Definitely Recommend this movie if you are in the mood for something really funny and catchy. FOLLOW ME...OR PERISH, SWEATER MONKEY'S! SPIRIT FINGERS FOREVER! A MUST Rent and/or Buy! Enjoy!
I remember watching Vanities Evey time it aired on HBO in 1981. The songs were catchy and many lessons were taught, though if my mother would have seen it she may have dropped her teeth on the floor at that time! She was very old fasioned and I was 13 or 14 years old. The impact and memories are dim at this time, and I really Really wish I had a copy of this fantastic play. Annette O'Toole, Meridith Baxter and Shelly Hack were wonderful, (I think Annette was my favorite though) since her character, Joanne, is the one I recall most and was the name that helped me find it listed on here.
Anyway...IF you have a chance to see Vanities..I Highly recommend it!! I Want A Copy Desperatly!!
