In a world full of action packed CGI extravaganzas or over the top ideas, it was refreshing to have a film that is just about a group of characters that live in a slightly mundane and average world.
And characters I actually care about. I thought the romantically involved leads were great. The friendship between the three fellas felt authentic as well. And felt the cameos were fun, especially Justin Long.
The music is good and was a great addition to the 80's vibe of the film for.
Smith better not turn on this like he did Jersey Girl for any hate it may get. It's not everyone's type of flick for sure but I'm sure it has its audience.
I loved it.

A lot of accurate story reeling and some really small details that you don't often see or read about. But also a lot of artist. License and story that doesn't need to be there in my opinion.
And if you're going to add some of these details that we don't see in other films it be great if they were as accurate as lisps pile instead of changing characters. And adding in some characters feels totally unnecessary:
I get using artistic license and that some parts of the story have numerous versions. Just wish the most accepted version was represented here.
Overall set and costume design are great and the acting is pretty good though the dialogue is a bit off feeling sometimes.
Worth viewing but a bit frustrating.

My initial viewing I really liked a lot about it but felt maybe a little underwhelmed. Saw it a second time today and liked it even more.
The theater today was packed, especially with kids. People were laughing and having a good time and there was lots of clapping and singing at the end.
Seems some people didn't like all the fan service and the Gozer storyline in Afterlife. Feel this one gives us something pretty new overall but apparently it doesn't have enough nostalgia and fan service for those same people. It also has too many characters and sub plots for anyone to follow according to a bunch of Facebook reviewers. Yet again those same people say the script is dumbed down for today's audience.
I thought Afterlife was a great bridge from the past to the future. Frozen Empire gives us a new start to what else may come. There may be a couple things I could nitpick but nothing big. My only real issue with it it's that it leaves me wanting more.
Frozen Empire is number 3 for me right now. But could knock Afterlife down a spot as I feel Frozen Empire is moreover fun rewatch.
I'd love a live action series with the new crew. Though I know that won't happen.
