Rob Beckett's Smart TV (2024)
It's no Telly Addicts but an easy watch!
I have watched all of these and so far it's been decent watching. Rob Beckett is funny as a host and some of the guests have been really good.
It follows the formats of things like Alan Carr's movie show and at time is quite funny with Alison Hammond and Josh Widdecombe good team captains.
Don't expect this to be anything like Telly Addicts from many years ago and none of the questions are very hard but don't let this spoil the watch.
This show would benefit from being tougher and maybe not so focussed on reality TV but aside from this format works and I've enjoyed watching it.
Well worth an easy watch.
24 Hours in Police Custody (2014)
Not reflective of Beds Police
This show is effectively a propaganda show for Bedfordshire Police and is not in anyway reflective of who they really are and just how incompetent they actually are.
The cases in this will every now and again show the real character of the officers such as the DS who jumps to conclusions and immediately decides someone is guilty.
The reality of this police force is so far from this and is in fact the most incompetent and pathetic police force in the country. The stories are interesting but not reflective in anyway of reality and for this reason I have scored this a one. If I could have scored it minus so it truly reflect these scumbags then I would have done.
The Simpsons: Homer's Adventures Through the Windshield Glass (2023)
This could have been a good episode!
The concept of this episode means that they could have done anything but instead they have a crap song by Lizzo!
There is so much more they could and should have done with this as time moved slowly and when it started I thought this could have been a really good episode, much like the Fargo episodes from last season. But instead it transcended into a crappy rap fest with a rubbish song and just another vehicle to promote the career of Lizzo. I know this series can sell out but take Lizzo out of it and you definitely do have the makings of a good episode.
I know they don't make them like they used to but this series has not been too bad but let sown by an awful series finale.
Just a shame I can't unwatch this!
The Simpsons: The Falcon and the D'Ohman (2011)
Great opening song
I've seen this episode a few times and it's one of my favourites of the later series. The opening version of walking on the moon by Homer is quality and one of his best songs.
Overall I really enjoyable episode with another Kiefer Sutherland appearance!
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Decent enough but did it need to be made???
I actually enjoyed the film although it was a little long with lots of re-hashed bits from the previous films.
It definitely misses Laurence Fishburne's screen presence but the new Morpheus was still good.
A decent enough film but did it really need to be made???
Quantum Leap: The Color of Truth - August 8, 1955 (1989)
Great episode
I love this episode which I have just watched yet again having decided to rewatch all of Quantum Leap.
It highlights the inequality of the era in a sensitive way and it is shocking when you think this was only 70 years ago.
A great episode in a great series and well worth watching.
Who Do You Think You Are?: Alex Scott (2021)
Hate to watch anything with her on
I find Alex Scott to be completely unlikeable, disingenuous, divisive and frankly an exceptionally poor sports and general presenter. She has probably benefitted more through the BBC's diversity drive than anyone else and despite all the exposure she has she still constantly grates on me.
The most interesting part of the show was her finding out that her family had been slaves and slave owners. Firstly, I'm surprised the BBC allowed this to be shown cause it doesn't fit their narrative and secondly, I'm really glad they did because as abhorrent as slavery is now and has always been it has an exceptionally complicated and diverse history and is not as simple as how certain agendas like to portray it being simply that 'white people enslaved black people' and it's far wider that this. It is important that all history is heard whether uncomfortable or otherwise so credit for doing this.
It this show had been about anyone but her then probably would have marked it higher!
Jungle Cruise (2021)
Easy family viewing
Yes I know this sort thing has been done before but for easy watching with kids this was great. The casting was great and whilst predictable it was a decent enough story line. Overall I thought a fun family film and well worth watching.
Prodigal Son: Speak of the Devil (2021)
Being ruined by the woke agenda
This episode was ok and would have been better did it not continually support the woke agenda with divisive and false narratives. Wish this just went back to how the first series was as there are still glimpses of a good series.
Cats (2019)
Simply the worst film ever!
I watched this hoping the reviews weren't accurate and they were just following a trend! Never will I think that again... the worst film ever!
The Big Bang Theory: Unaired Pilot (2006)
Lucky the pilot was rejected!
I have seen this having watched nearly every episode of TBBT and am glad this episode was never commissioned for a series and it was changed. The characters lack what made TBBT so good for so long.
Glad I've seen it but won't hurry to watch it again!!
A Black Lady Sketch Show: Angela Bassett Is the Baddest Bitch (2019)
Just not funny!
I was hoping having seen the cast and also the publicity it was getting on Sky that this would be funny. Sadly it's not!
Maybe I just don't understand it but this was 26 minutes of my life I'm not getting back.
Don't make the same mistake as me!
The Simpsons: Rosebud (1993)
Decent episode
I've seen this episode loads of times now and it's always been one of my favourites. The interactions between Homer and Maggie are sweet and Homer offering the cardboard as a replacement to Maggie before keeping it himself are funny.
This episode was around the peak of The Simpson's when they could do no wrong. Well worth watching.
The Simpsons: Marge vs. the Monorail (1993)
Great elisode
I think I have probably watched this episode dozens of times now and it never gets boring or repetitive. From the opening scenes with Homer's take on the Flintstones song '... about to hit a chestnut tree!' To the image of Mr Burns as Hannibal Lectar...
Just a classic episode from when The Simpsons were at their very best.
The Simpsons: Homer's Triple Bypass (1992)
One of the best!
This is definitely one of the best episodes of The Simpson's. It has all the ingredients that's made this so great... comic humour from a serious situation and real family values. Really enjoy watching this one.
