Redeeming Love (2022)
Good Movie
This is a good solid film. Not a great movie, but better than many.
A good script, with few cliches. Actors are believable in their respective roles. Well directed and filmed.
I've not read the book that this movie is based on, so can't speak to how well the it correlates to the original material.
I would compare this film to the many Hallmark films that attempt to cover similar material. This film is much better.
This film also highlights how much grittier the early West was, than what is normally portrayed in romance movies.
To sum up, a good film, worth watching, but doesn't require too much effort.
Life of Crime (2013)
How is This a Comedy?
Physical assault, attempted rape, fire arms used with intent, murder.
A hostage taking incident that ends in death.
Let not forget kidnapping, which is key part of the story.
Jennifer Anniston does her best to make the most of a weak script. The rest of the cast also put in good performances.
I believe the main problem is the script doesn't know what it wants to be. This movie would have worked better if the director had decided to make it a suspense drama, or gone full in as a comedy. Unfortunately, by not committing to either, the movie is weakened.
Could have been good, but falls short in the execution.
Mulan (2020)
A Good Adaptation of the Mulan Legend
Sure it's not completely historically accurate, but it's still pretty good.
The action sequences are very good, as is the acting. Production values are high.
The costumes and cinematography are excellent.
Thankfully, the director did away with the hokey songs and comic relief dragon.
The Irregulars (2021)
Great idea, poorly xecuted
You can almost imagine the meeting where they pitch this idea:
Writers: It will be a series about the Baker Street Irregulars. They're an under explored aspect of the Sherlock Holmes novels
Marketing: Great idea! Where's the supernatural element?
Writers: It's set in Victorian London. We could incorporate a commentary on the artificiality of societal class division.
Marketing: Yeah...... but we like the supernatural.
Mamma Mia! (2008)
Light Weight Time Waster
Want high cinema? This isn't your film.
Want a bit of good natured fun? Then enjoy.
Sure Pierce can't sing, but Meryl sure can.
It's fun.
Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars (2017)
Another waste of time
What is it about Starship Troopers that film makers just can't get right?
From the grotesquely awful piece of schlock that was the 1997 version to this waste of time, Hollywood just can't get it right.
Don't waste your time with any of the these films. Go read the book instead.
Starship Troopers (1997)
What a Complete Waste of Time.
Without a doubt, this has to be one of the worst movies made. Lousy script, mediocre acting, and over-blown production.
The directors mis-guided efforts have failed to provide a viable storyline, serving only to stroke his massive ego.
This movie is just bad.
Parker (2013)
Standard Tough-Guy Action Flick
Grab some popcorn, settle in, and suspend reality a bit.
It's a good way to waste the afternoon.
Ophelia (2018)
Interesting take on Hamlet
Hard to believe the hostility directed against this movie.
It's not Hamlet, but another take on the story from the viewpoint of Ophelia. The director chose to show the protagonist as a strong women.
Enjoyed the character development and the storyline. Directing was solid. All the actors were quite believable in their roles.
