If you're going to set up a complex intrigue - then you have to understand pace, setting, script, tone, feel.
Unfortunately, the Director did not manage to capture the necessary colour to set the tone for , what is, a fairly juvenile script and storyline.
Some phoned-in performances didn't help. There's nothing vaguely believable in the story , so it has to have some excellent 'tone' to sell it to the audience - by superb acting, camerawork and paced editing. It didn't really come together. And when that happens the audience gives up on suspending belief. Not really sure this was a script, a book, or even a short story in a bad magazine.
