Scouting for Christmas (2024)
Mediocre
I was looking forward to this as I like both Carlos and Tamera, but was sorely disappointed. Tamera and Carlos could not have been more awkward. This really felt like Tamera Mowry was just going through the motions.. She was not invested in any part of this movie. Not one scene. All her scenes felt awkward and forced, even with her "daughter". The scenes with the daughter and the ex-husband were the only scenes that felt genuine. The end scene at the ball with Carlos and Tamera was as awkward as their first scene and the kiss felt forced. It was so painfully obvious they were not into it or each other - at all. Why are these leads cast if they don't like each other? This was painful to watch and I won't be watching it again. I kept waiting for the awkwardness to fade as the characters got to know each other, but it got worse with each scene. The dialogue was stilted and the leads remained awkward throughout. Hopefully, the rest of the Christmas movies this season are better than this mess, or I won't be watching. I used to love watching Hallmark Christmas, but with stuff like this, the past couple years I've been changing the channel a lot more often then stopping to watch.
Jazz Ramsey: A K-9 Mystery (2024)
Pitiful. Just pitiful...
Love the actress, but the actor was very wooden. They had no chemistry together. There were plot holes you could drive a bus through, and we were left trying to figure out how the villain of our picture could pull off what they did. And the 2 times they had coffee - it was blatantly obvious the cups were empty. Come on - can Hallmark actors not "act" like there's something in the cups?
They implied the person murdered had been missing and no one noticed for almost a year. Then when we find out she's not dead - where the heck did she live for a year? Not in her own home, and no one notices this other person missing - even though she was "public speaking for years", according to the detective. None of it made sense- and like others have said- it was a K9 movie with very little K9 in it. Very odd. I won't watch it again, but if Hallmark is smart, they won't air it again - it was THAT bad.
Branching Out (2024)
Great movie except for unrealistic "conflict"
This was a great movie, good chemistry, original plot. I enjoyed this until the point where he gets his dream job and she backs off and acts like he's just broken up with her because he's going on tour for 6 months. That had to have been the dumbest reason for conflict I have ever seen from Hallmark in a long time. She acts lke FaceTime, and cellphones don't exist. She acts lke he can't call, text, or ever speak to them while he's gone. It was written to play like it was her insecurites, but it was just such a pathetic device to add conflict that wasn't there - and so unnecessary for such a good movie. The dialogue and end acene where she suddenly accepts him going and explains off her insecurites was stilted awkward and was just poorly written. I got whiplash from her sudden change of heart. Whoever wrote this needs to work on their endings...Otherwise a good watch.
Shifting Gears (2024)
Had potential, but fell flat
This had potential, with a female mechanic and ex boyfriend mechanic-turned-business exec. It started out well - loved the shots of Detroit - but not sure where this was supposed to take place because it certainly wasn't anywhere in Michigan.
It was disappointing because I couldn't get invested in either lead character. There simply was not enough back story in the beginning to get me invested in their history together or in either one of them. Tyler Hines is probably my favorite Hallmark player - he can make even the worst actress look good, but some of his characters as of late, have been awful. He has been playing too many of these passive, overly sensitive, self-doubting characters lately. Katherine Barrel's character was just as insecure and self-doubting. By the time they each got it together at the end, I was just waiting to see how it ended.
Jess kept telling Luke she couldn't do the car competition without him, but there was so little interaction between them during the actual competition, that I couldn't figure out what she needed him for. They worked together in the second round of competition for a 5-minute scene, then he "accidently" messed up the paint job on the car she was working on in the finale - she certainly didn't need him to help with that. All their interactions otherwise were chance meetings and an occasional walk down memory lane - which those could have helped to move the relationship forward, but felt like filler. They were meant to show a history between the two characters, but were so random that I found them confusing and not very helpful to the plot. Even their big conversation about past dating experiences was so superficial and vague that we learned nothing about either one of them and it does nothing to forward the plot. There was no development of the other characters either.
I felt this story had bland characters, they didn't have much chemistry together, and the story dragged. There should have been a lot more focus and time spent on the competition and more scenes of them actually working together. When the show's host says they make a good team, I couldn't figure out how he came to that conclusion from one 5-minute round where they fixed some headlights - and they didn't even do it "together". For the fact the car competition takes up 2/3 of the show there was little showing of the classic cars, little showing of the competition, and little showing of the actual restorations. I would have liked a full 360 view of her amazing paint job that won her the competition at the end - all we got was a quick glance at one quarter panel.
This was a one-time watch for me. I hope next time Hallmark does a car-focused plot, that there is a focus on some of the cars and some character development to get me invested.
Once Upon a Prince (2018)
Another common girl and prince movie
There is not much to say that hasn't already been said. This is a story that has been done too many times - and not at all original. Why is every prince just an every day guy? Why is every leading lady confident and outgoing and perfect and soooo in love until she finds out the guy is a prince? Then suddenly she becomes an insecure hot mess? The two of them are very into each other, then Susanna sees Nate in his home country and her personality totally changes. She suddenly becomes very insecure, whiny, and doesn't believe he could have feelings for her. So much for self-confidence. The dresses for the ball are awful - ill-fittiing and so outdated as to look like 80's prom dresses. The hair styles for the royal ball are sloppy and awful. Both the young women looked like they just went through a wind tunnel, put a pin or two in their hair and went to the ball. Messy twists and ponytails are NOT hairstyles for a formal event of any kind. It goes further downhill from there. Susanna seees Nate talking to Lady Ginny and decided to leave - it made no sense. He's holding 2 glasses of chanpagne - neither of which he gives to Lady Ginny - he is standing about 3 feet from her during their conversation and makes no move to get closer. Nothing about that says he's interested, so why would Susanna leave? Then amazingly, she had time to change out of her dress, pack ann her things, and get a car to take her to the airport in the span of time it takes him to walk from the conversation with Lady Ginny back to the study. Once he gets back to the study, he sees she's gone and does nothing. Why doesnt he make any attempt to find her? He was so "in love" but doesn't try to look for her or follow her for what is apparently days after she left. He wallows in his misery and while digging in his garden decides to tell his mother he deserved to be happy in a dramatic fashion. This causes his mother to have an immediate change of heart and only then does he decide to go find Susanna.
We cut to the sister tricking Susanna into giving up her keys for her sister to drive her to "their tree". Nate, with his mother in tow, declares his love and she instantly forgives him. Not a memorable movie, just another bland offering in a long line of cliche royalty-loves-a-commoner movies. The only distinguishing features for this one being ugly ball dresses and sloppy hairstyles. This is a one time watch.
Where Your Heart Belongs (2022)
Terrible
There is not much I need to say that other reviewers have not already said. The writing was positively awful. This movie is a perfect example of quantity over quality. Hallmark is in such a hurry to make a bunch of movies, that then don't care about what kind of movies they make.
This one was awful. Lead male is an ex-boyfirend who is kind, funny, and selfless. He falls for leading woman who is completely self-absorbed, shallow, and inconsiderate of every person in the movie except for her father. The writing is horrific. Not one of these people would forgive her for what she's said or done if these were real people, and she never really makes up for being so wretched. She is not a sympathetic character at all. She certainly did not deserve a happily ever after. What was really weird, the ex-boyfriend proposes at the end, less than 10 minutes after she accuses him of ruining her dad's life and trying to steal her dad's business. Why? She was mean and hurtful. This was a colossal waste of time. If you havent seen this - don't.
Falling for Vermont (2017)
Remake of another Hallmark movie, but cute on its own
This is a remake of A Christmas to Remember, but was still cute - as long as you suspend reality for a bit. The kids were great, and the town scenic. But The biggest issue I had with the movie was the leading lady's medical care. Since when does a doctor take someone with an obvious head injury out of the hospital? And to his home? Why did no one look foe the car when she had obviously been in an accident? And when she has the allergic reaction to the nuts, why did she again end up at the doctor's house instead of a hospital?
This was a cute movie as long as you pretend it was normal to not look into her identity or look for her car or anything. Or you pretend hospitals dont exist and small town doctors make house calls all the time...She claims in an interview after she regains her memory that all she did was try to find out about who she was. But if she did, it ended up on the cutting room floor...
Miracle in Bethlehem, PA. (2023)
Liked the story, the men need a shave
The modern twist on the nativity was cute; the town, the inn, the "stable", etc. Mary adopting to become a single mother was a bit of a stretch, rather than having a baby of her own. Though having to drive to Bethlehem to pick up the baby was the plot point to get her into the town. She was gung-ho to adopt, then has a 5 minute soliloquy about how hard it is to be a single mother - she's been a single mother for literally 2 minutes of the movie. I agree with other reviewers that the religious themes are blatantly obvious - so there is no chance you miss them - but it's nice to see some family values in the Hallmark movies this Christmas. My biggest beef about the movie was the scruff Ben Ayers had going on. What is with the greasy, haven't-showered-in-a-month look?! All the women are impeccably dressed, hair and makeup perfect - and almost every male lead looks unkempt and raggedy. Scruff doesn't make the male leads look any younger or more hip - just sloppy. Won't be an annual favorite of mine, but was a decent one-time watch.
Christmas Incorporated (2015)
Not Oscar worthy - but worth a watch
I enjoyed this movie for what it is - a feel-good Christmas movie. Yes, this plot has been done before, but show me a Christmas movie whose plot hasn't been. I have to be honest, there were things I found cringe-worthy, like the cheesy lines at the end "I don't have everything for Christmas because I don't have you" is a prime example. But this move has one of my favorite movie scenes of all time in it. The scene where the mayor tells William about seeing his wife for the first time from the bench in town was just wonderful. The mayor is waxing nostalgic, William gets a bit misty, then when the mayor tells William that William feels the same way about Riley, William blushed, stammers - and it was thoroughly believeable. Both actors, Steve Lund and Ron Lea, were total invested in the scene and it was really great. That is why I watch Hallmark movies - not for the recycled storylines, or the happily ever after. I watch it because every now and then a movie - or a scene - is just amazing or hits just right and makes me believe whatever story they're telling. I watch this movie whenever it's on - because that scene makes me watch and makes me sigh every time. One of my seasonal favorites.
Holiday Road (2023)
Awful
This may have been based on a true story, but THIS story is awful. The characters are shallow, self-absorbed and unrealistic. Each has dramatic moments that are crying, emotional one minute, then resolve in the blink of an eye and they are suddenly happy and laughing. When does that happen in real life? Each emotional scenario was resolved within seconds as they occurred throughout the movie. None of these characters were memorable, a couple of these characters were barely likeable. I watched to the end to find out how it ended, but the characters all felt unrealistic and over done. This just felt like they took real stories and then took them way over the top. A one-time watch for me.
A Biltmore Christmas (2023)
Best of 2023
This was an excellently written and superbly acted, feel-good Christmas movie. Hands down the best I've seen from Hallmark this Christmas season. No dumb misunderstanding, no bickering, no walking with empty cocoa cups - just a well written story. Too bad all Hallmark movies can't be this well done. The actors were well cast, and had lovely chemistry - all of them. I think i missed who the curator was in relation to the leads that he was in on the secret at the end. I'll have to watch it again to find out. I loved the cameos of the other Hallmark stars in the movie "remake" scene - two more of my favorites. I really enjoyed this movie and it will hopefully become an annual staple for Hallmark, as I would watch this again and again. Very few movies are straight-up, happy-ending Christmas movies - without cheesy conflicts or contrived misunderstandings, so I appreciate this for the refreshing gem that it is. I loved the period clothes, acting, and storyline - even loved the addition of the photographer who helps cover for her until she gets back. It all just added to the suspense and the anticipation of the ending. An ending that was not quite predictable. It was a true Christmas masterpiece. Bravo, Hallmark.
Christmas Keepsake (2023)
Liked it but too many discrepencies
I loved that Daniel Lissing used his actual accent in this one. There was so may things wrong with this - silly little things with continuity and plot holes. First, the grass is obviously fake in the yard (it looks like green Easter basket grass), and the "time capsule" was sitting on the surface - there was no digging involved. There is no way the previous owner didn't notice a metal can on the ground next to the patio. Second, the first stop at the bakery for hot chocolate- that ran out out hot chocolate. No place does that. If it's so great, they'd make sure they have it at Christmas time. And if they make their own -they'd go to the grocery store and get more ingredients. Made no sense - other than the excuse for the two leads to get together again. The writing was juvenile. When Tom and Elizabeth interact the first time she says" you're not from around here, are you"? Corny. Then says its not because of his Australian accent but because it's a small town. What?!?
Tom trying to put together a Christmas fair for his daughter, Grace, was a ridiculous plotline. A good amount of movie time was spent on it (phone calls and arrangements) only for it to fail - and the daughter didn't really seem to care, and never mentioned again. It just seemed strange that Tom fixated on it and then Grace barely reacted when he told her he couldn't make it happen. It felt like a blatant time filler. I didn't feel much chemistry with Tom and Elizabeth - and the way the mother kept pushing Elizabeth at Tom right from the start just felt uncomfortable when they barely know him. It was meant to be a feel-good movie and it was - where the daughter was concerned. I like the Hallmark things Daniel Lissing has been in, and this was decent. I would have preferred that Elizabeth act like she was a little more interested in Tom once she got to know him, as she seemed a bit distant until almost the very end. It had a great father-daughter relationship, though, so made it a decent holiday movie.
The Christmas Secret (2014)
This was a decent movie
Was a good movie, but the fact that the ex-husband was fighting for custody was over the top. No court would give a guy custody of his kids if he never paid a cent of child support - they'd probably garnish his wages instead of hearing his custody case. I liked how Christine and Jason kept running into each other and just liked each other, rather than the usual formula of ridiculous bickering then begrudgingly develop interest. Why she let him think her name was Rosemary even after she
found out he wasn't spying on her and they made date made no sense though. It was obvious the writers were grasping at straws to keep the plot from being revealed too soon but it went on past the point of ridiculousness. Finding out her boss at her new job was her grandmother at the end of the movie, however, was the only part that was too over-the-top and should have been left out. Not only was there already so much going on in the plot, but the woman playing her boss looked barely old enough to be her mother, much less be her grandmother. She is a lovely actress, but not old enough to be a great-grandmother - even for a Hallmark movie.
Christmas in Tahoe (2021)
Was a good movie
I enjoyed this. Not sure why some reviews go on about how young the guys from Wild Lynx look. Why couldn't they have hit it big out of high-school? These guys are at least in their 30s - plenty of time to hit it big. And Pat Monahan was great - I hope we see more of him in the future - he was very charming in this. I loved his Christmas song "Shake Up Christmas". This had some original songs and some not-so-traditional versions of a couple of christmas classics. Kyle Selig as Ryan was great. He can actually sing - and maybe he was a bit too clean cut for band called Wild Lynx - but I assume that was meant to be ironic. The acapella group was interesting and non-traditional. Laura Osnes as Claire was good, but I felt she was wooden and seemed stiff whenever anyone hugged her or showed her affection - which happened quite often throughout. It was a good movie - we should have heard more of the "Christmas Island" song that was the band's supposed big hit and more than juat bits of the other songs - is a Christmas movie about a variety show - with almost no scenes including the actual show.
I will admit I laughed when Claire and Ryan went on the patio at the ball and the backdrop of the balcony was a super obvious matte painting. Hallmark should splurge a bit and go for some better backdrops - obvious paintings are a bit tacky when you are supposed to be at such a scenic location like Tahoe. This was enjoyable and the singers were really good - more than I can say for other Hallmark movies I've seen. I liked it and felt it was well worth the watch.
Joy for Christmas (2021)
Mediocre acting, scattered plot, great music
This was a cute movie, but very hard to follow. There was mention of a couple charities being swindled, but never got the long and short of who did it and why they were not caught, nor the money returned. The brother wanted to end the charity side of the "family business" at the beginning because they were apprently one of the swindled, then suddenly becomes the charity's biggest cheerleader.foe no apprent reason. The brother attempts to sabotage the budding relationship, then suddenly tries to help Holly fix the relationship with Jack. The dad was also not a fan of the charity, then became a supporter as well. I almost got whiplash watching the multiple shifts in characters. The story felt like the writers had multiple ideas and couldn't make up their minds about which way they wanted the story to go. It felt like they just wrote in every direction and hoped it would sort itself out. If it had better fleshed out characters and chosen one decent storyline, it would have been probably held the attention. But by not developing the swindling aspect and having the brother and father have such character shifts, it just didnt feel like issues were resolved, just ignored. Holly even mentioned she was the reason Jack was in trouble in the press, then never once apologized to him for causing him grief. It felt unfinished and rushed. The saving grace for me was the singing. I am normally not a fan of singing in Hallmark movies, because it's usually the Hallmark players and they are stilted, awkward, and it feels scripted. This time they found an actual singer, who was comfortable singing and he truly felt like he was caroling off the cuff. Wes MacInnes is a great talent and was wonderful in the movie - I would have liked to see some actual character development for his character with the sister - that really felt ignored. I hope to see him in future movies with a bigger part. His impromtu caroling with Sam Page was great - high point of the movie. I would watch again just for that.
Ghosts of Christmas Always (2022)
THIS is a Christmas movie
This was a great Chritmas movie. The script was original and fresh. The dialogue was good, the characters real, and entertaining, too. I can honestly say this is what Hallmark should strive for. Original, characters with good chemistry, and a feel-good movie with a feel-good ending. That is what the holidays are all about. Loved everything about this movie. The ending was good, but would have liked to see how they got together. The leads had great chemistry and they all played off each other well.
I will watch any time it is on - so hoping this becomes an annual thing for Hallmark. Absolutely worth watching.
Aisle Be Home for Christmas (2022)
Slow moving with strange filter use
This movie was decent, but a little slow. And for people trapped in a store that only a few knew each other - they have a lot of deep conversations about the main couple's relationship - even the people who didn't know them. The leading lady, Michelle, and the store owner are friends, the leading man, Drew, is an ex-boyfriend of Michelle's. The other three are basically strangers. The plot is the store owner forces the main couple to stay because there is a terrible blizzard outside - but according to the only store employee, it only just started snowing. A few minutes later, a random stranger comes in like it is 40 below outside and had been snowing for hours rather than minutes - he said he walked four blocks to get there but had almost no snow on him. Wasnt there a terrible blizzard outside? And while many cities have power outages in storms, what city loses all cell service? Finally, some random guy that Michelle recognizes as a coach of hers from high school, is sitting on the floor fixing a toy train an hour after closing time. How did the store owner or the lone employee not know this random person was in the store - sitting in a pile of train pieces - after closing time? None of the other characters were developed at all, so their presence there felt unnecessary. There was great chemistry between the leads, but I find it ridiculous that the store owner is ok with these people opening and using half of the inventory in the store: to make a large dinner, to make dessert, to make cocoa, and then the 50-60 large pillar-candle path the the group made for Michelle to follow to Drew. The candle path scene is an an anti-climactic, pseudo-romantic scene with Drew - a scene every other character interrupts after they all supposedly worked so hard to help set it up. Michelle is an all-or-nothing gal that apparently feels that she and the leading guy can't have a relationship if he has to be so focused on his work - how should he pay the bills if he doesn't work? She spends most of the movie talking about her relationship with Drew - with him and anyone else who will listen - how it didn't work, couldn't work. Drew says he wants to have fun, then tells her he is moving away for a promotion, then tells her he's decides to stay and make it work with her - all three major life decisions made while trapped in this store. Another big distraction was the soft, fuzzy filter the movie was filmed with that gave all the edges of the screen a blurry look. I'm not sure if it was supposed to give the movie a dream-like feel, but it just seemed strange and unnecessary.
I think if there had been more character and story devlopment for the other people trapped in the store with them - and was more of an ensemble film - it wouldn't have felt so long and dragged out. While some movies become holiday traditions, this won't be one of them.
A Harvest Homecoming (2023)
Wow. Over-the-top autumn is here...
There is not a town in the world - especially a small town - that decorates every single room in every single building and home with identicle garish leaf garlands. Even the GYM at the middle school? Get real. It was like the Stepford town - all the homes and buildings - inside and out - had the exact same decorations. Talk about distracting. But then, maybe the decor was meant to be distracting - so people weren't paying attention to the dialogue. The script was juvenile at best. "You like her", "No, I dont", "Yeah, you like her", No, I am leaving", "You like her"... Seriously? An hour and 45 minutes into the movie and two people STILL had to tell him he liked her. Absolutely no relationship development or character development. Just a bunch of people acting like 12-year olds teasing the young couple about how much they like each other - and they sisnt believe it. Every actor, including Donovan and Lowndes, were wooden and sounded like they were reading off a teleprompter as they were acting each scene. The parents were the most relaxed of ALL the actors, and the only ones who seemed comfortable acting together. This was hard to watch, because there was no chemistry with any of the actors except the actors that played the parents. The last scene of the movie was the only part of the movie that the lead actors weren't stuttering - and I think that's because they were kissing instead of talking for part of that scene. This was a one-time, awkward watch. Hoping the Christmas movies are better...
A Safari Romance (2023)
The scenery was beautiful, but....
I am a fan of both Andrew Walker and Brittany Barstow. I have enjoyed almost all the movies they each have done. Sadly, they didn't have any chemistry together - at least not in this movie. Their scenes together felt awkward and the conversations stilted. They didn't seem to relax until almost the end of the movie.
The scenery was beautiful, but the plot was boring and the story was slow. The concept of Brittany's character working toward a doctoral thesis was believable, but the business about her possibly losing her license because of someone else flying a drone was not. Not sure how she would lose her job and reputation over the actions of someone else when she was completely unaware the actions were occuring. That whole plot point seemed a stretch. Andrew's character certainly wasn't angry enough with his new boss for almost costing Brittany's character her doctorate, seeing as he claimed to be so invested in seeing her complete it. All the characters seemed too even tempered, even in situations where they should be angry or upset. For having such amazing scenery, the movie itself was a dud.
Emma Fielding Mysteries: More Bitter Than Death (2019)
Wow. Watched it for a laugh, not because it was a decent mystery.
The writing was atrocious. Too many folks have pointed out the bad British accent, so I don't really need to go there. But the plot points were so bad that it was just funny. I lost count of how many times I shook my head and thought, "this would never happen".
It went downhill 30 minutes in, when the department chairperson collapses and dies at the podium before giving a speech to name her successor. No one called for help, no one asked for a doctor in the house, no one called EMS, just "Oops, she's dead" and mystery begins. Remind me not to die in that fictional town. Next, when the FBI agent, Jim, tells the sheriff that it is possibly murder, she completely dismisses him. What?! Since when is it NOT suspicious when a perfectly healthy, barely middle-aged professor dies in front of a room full of people?? Sheriff says, "Not enough to investigate so everyone can go home." Yeah, sure, because the FBI guy doesn't know what he's talking about. It goes down hill even further when Jim - who is interested in Emma - doesn't have the guts to tell her he likes her, but give advice to a college kid to do just that with Emma's daughter.
We finally hit rock bottom at the climactic fight scene, when we see our heroine, Emma tied to a chair listening to the pudgy and out-of-shape villain tell her why he did what he did. Neither the trained FBI agent, nor the world-travelling British archeologist, can rescue the heroine and are fought off by a man who looks like he's never been in a fight in his life. Emma is forced to rescue herself - she goes incredible hulk, breaks the arms off the chair, then beats off said professor with the arms of the chair still tied to her arms - while both men lie on the ground and groan from the beating they took during their rescue attempt. Both guys apparently need to hit the gym. This was amusing as a one-time watch, but I could not recommend this as a serious mystery.
Romance in Style (2022)
Mediocre at best
This movie was only ok. The female lead, Ella, was over the top ridiculous and a total contradiction - telling the male lead, Derek, she doesn't want a relationship, but gushes to her bestie she "really, really likes him". She preaches body positivity, but doesnt believe it for herself. She is nice one minute, an arrogant know-it-all who hops on her soap box to tell people what they should think the next. She "sees people for who the are", then believes the worst of Derek when the evil witch who has been trying to sabotage her the entire movie, lies to her about him. The movie had potential but fell short due to the wishy-washy characters, too much soap box preaching, and a lot of over-acting. A one-time watch.
Tyler Perry's Young Dylan (2020)
Not worth watching
Pathetic remake/caricature of the Fresh Prince of Bel-air. This show was done already. And that was a much more worthwhile watch than this. More child-focused programming with selfish, disrespectful children. This had potential to be a positive show. Too bad the writers didn't get the memo. My 9 year old and 10 year old watched 2 episodes and asked me not to make them watch it anymore. They said the show was lame and that kids don't act like that for real. I was just disappointed at how self-absorbed the main character was. Potential wasted. I am surprised it has lasted more than one season....
Love in the Maldives (2023)
Good movie, fantastic scenery
The movie was good, while it was a plot that was done before, the scenery definitely made it worth watching. Good chemistry with the actors, the supporting cast was wonderful. I loved the hotel - and if that's a real place - I want to go there. Sleeping and dining under the ocean looks amazing. The movie had its moments - they more than dive in the ocean, they got to know each other. They talked and there was relationship progression, that advanced the story. They could have done without the obviously CGI turtle swimming around at the end of the movie, but it was a well-done story and a lot of great scenery. Would recommend as a fun watch to get ready for summer..
Will Trent (2023)
I enjoyed it
I liked the pilot and the first few episodes so far. The pilot had a few twists that had me guessing - so kept me watching to see what would happen next. I like the lead character. I like how little bits of his past are revealed along the way to explain why he is the way he is. The second and third episodes also had me glued to the screen. I was impressed with the other characters. The women are strong - very refreshing. I am so tired of wilting flowers and damsels in distress - these women can hold their own. The writing is good, the stories are interesting and it has even surprised me at times. I look forward to seeing where this series goes.
The Royal Nanny (2022)
Not your typical Hallmark - loved it
This was very different from the regular movies Hallmark cranks out. This felt like time and effort was put into this movie. There was good chemistry between the leads, the affection between the leads and the kids felt genuine, and there was some cloak and dagger stuff that really held my interest. The dialogue was thought out and I liked how the head of the nanny college played an integral part in the story. I also liked that the hero was the leading lady and she didn't sacrifice her job, or herself in order to "get the guy". There could have been a little more action during the rescue, but we can't have everything. Refreshing storyline - definitely worth the watch.
