I can't make my mind up about Tidelands. It's kind of turgid, populated by beautiful actors from various countries but, at the same time, it's a soap. The body count is a bit too high for my taste. I didn't really want to keep watching (on Netflix) but I needed to know what happened in the end (not that I did).
Adrielle is the kind of woman you'd want to sleep with, knowing that she'd kill you afterwards. Cal needs a haircut. Dylan is confused. Augie is naïve. It suffers from the usual issue of characters not know there is someone else in the room with them and about to (a) stab them or (b) bash them over the head. A bit like the British pantomime trope "he's behind you!".
The ending was very disappointing in that there was no real conclusion. The final episode was only 36 minutes and it was like the writers had lost interest. Maybe they ran out of budget.
So it had a certain mystique but it was like an exotic meal which was, in the final analysis, disappointing. In a way, I'd like to see a season two, but that might be asking too much.

I really liked series one but in series two all the characters are getting more and more annoying, I mean, Aaron was annoying right from the start but as it gets more and more soapy they're all getting irritating, especially Glen. I've made it up to series 2 episode 5 but it's becoming a struggle. It's all about relationships and the fact that they don't work. Of course, everything would be simpler if the characters actually talked to each other honestly but, instead, they all go around the houses and make things worse instead of better. But I guess that's soapy drama for you. Seven for series one and six for series two.
