Stupid movie. It's about a girl with some psychic powers who discovers some crate buried in her aunts grounds near a huge farm. Turns out it is the head of Gideon Drew--a Devil worshipper from the 1700 or 1800s. His head was chopped off and his body was buried somewhere else. When anybody looks into his eyes he telepathically orders them to find his body. Soon quite a few people are running around possessed by him looking for it.
Slow-moving (even though it runs only a little over an hour), boring, unlikable characters (people are playing caricatures not characters) and plat direction. It has a few nicely atmospheric moments which is why I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 1 but this ia really terrible stuff.

I saw a recently restored print of this on TCM. A black woman who has lost an incredible amount of weight over the years. She wants to be an actress but her first job involves her taking her clothes off. She refuses seeing it as exploitive. It leads to her discussing with her friends (male and female) whether she should do it. It leads to some fascinating discussions on gender politics and a woman's role in society. It's finally revealed at the end why she was so fat in the first place and a secret she was trying to cover up.
It LOOKS fantastic, has great acting and a sharp, insightful script. One of the best indie films ever made!

Based on a real-life race from New York to Paris. It narrows down to two contestants--the evil Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon) and the nice Great Leslie. Also thrown in is Natalie Wood as a sufferagate. A big hit in 1965 but I hated it.
It's too long (150 minutes), isn't funny once (I smiled twice and that's it), slow-moving (I dozed off once), and full of unfunny, forced slapstick. I gave up on it totally when they threw in a massive pie fight at the end. Acting doesn't help. Lemmon is seriously miscast and Wood is annoying. Only Curtis is any good. Hard to believe that Blake Edwards directed this.
