I don't know why the production team went with the first scene , I believe it may have been an attempt at comedy but failed to work, at least for me. However, please, please stick with the show as within minutes you are hooked line and sinker. Wolfe (with an E) is a combination of very clever, very funny writing supported by a wonderful cast of characters, excellent cinematography and (for once) great sound editing. I would suggest British show is at least the equal to any top quality US tv production along the lines of such as Dexter etc.
In closing, I highly recommend Wolfe as 2021's 'go to' dark comedy.

To watch this show in binge fashion it will take just short of four and a half hours, but it is well worth it. No use giving up after 10 minutes as most of the reviewers have done and writing a bad review just because you didn't like one or other of the actors.
The story line is familiar with other shows, but that doesn't matter, it is still good entertainment. It may be a bit PC, but who cares it is still entertaining.
Having seen many of Paul Abbott's shows this might not be up with the best of them like Shameless and No Offense, which are brilliant, but it compares quite well.
Definitely worth a 7.5-8/10 and I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something interesting to watch.

I really enjoyed this series. Stumbled across it while looking for something new to watch and binge watched this series.

Being a fan of Paul Abbots work, I was so looking forward seeing this, I've binged the whole season & it's watchable, that's about it......
Unlike his other works where you get totally absorbed into the show & characters, I'm sad to say not this time round. It all felt rather disjointed & no character identity.
Will I watch Season 2, sadly no .... it just didn't hit the spot for ne.

Guess Somebody in the Edit room Still do not get, that OK sign and Gadsden Flag is not hidden signes of Nazis or Allright, Woke 2021 had it make it into fast clip with German WWII flag.. Why?
Cant we just have a good show that do not trying to sell lies to us, Obama doing the OK sign I do it when I dive, if your able to ignore this in the first 3 eps, then your going to enjoy this show,

There are so many great reviews on here I don't get the 6.4 rating?
This was great. I binged all 6 as wanted to see what happened each episode.
It's cleverly written , good acting and Wolfe is witty , so clever but watching him struggle with his mental health was hard at times. It makes him real though. The rest of the team all add to the program too. You can sense the family they have built themselves. Didn't take a genius to figure out D was upto something though. Hopefully there will be a season 2.

I really liked this series but it doesn't really seem to know what it is. Is it a black comedy? Is it a detective thriller? Is it a realistic look at pathologists showing human frailties and fractured relationships or an over the top theatrical ensemble cast blurring fact and fiction? It's just so much of everything that it ends up skating over all of it and this never really settling on anything.
Babou Ceesay is magnificent and is so charismatic, and the actor playing his daughter is also excellent. The rest of the cast are great but it's a bit hammy and 'knowing' at times.
Still, it was a lot of fun and really gross sometimes which was unexpected, and the episodes are short and taut. No flab on this.

What a refreshing change to get a TV series that's home grown hasn't got a agenda like almost all that come from the USA at the moment and has some good acting and great story lines.

I wouldn't want to pretend to be Dr Wolfe Kinte, nor have that be how people recognize me, either.
Imagine a high functioning mentally ill forensic's person, and the team that might exist to support them. Now glimpse their life at the start of a manic shift.
My biggest issues have been no clue what they're talking about, a lot more often than the other brit shows I've enjoyed. Meaning they use lots of slang and phrases I'm not familiar with. It happens so often I'll have no clue what they're "whingeing on about".
If you're sensitive to drama or rudeness, avoid it. For only 6 episodes, they manage a good progression for some characters. And enough repeating things that people appear to have personalities.
I hope the main character finds a role he enjoys, as he's an interesting person to watch (so far). I'm curious about lots of stuff, and generally knowledgeable so like hearing about current science use. And I appreciate seeing examples of other people's mental health issues since living with them can make you feel alone. And we don't realize how some people can manage success, even thriving, with the same symptoms you loathe.

Such a shame , this show could have been so much better.
It is visually stunning but the way the story is told makes the cases very boring.
There's not much of forensics scenes and when there is it is not even accurate.

It was ok, not the worst by any means but just ok. The main character is good and well acted. The other characters, I was not too keen on. The storylines are good, although the scenes are somewhat far fetched, however this is TV so that's to be expected somewhat.

I have hard time understanding a group of writers thinking a estranged husband breaking in to the home of his wife to collect dna from her bed, as funny!!!!!!!!!!!! This is very dangerous behavior to say the least. A murder suspect escaping by throwing loose change. This is lazy writing.
Ignore the whiners, it's fun, different and takes itself just seriously enough. There is an interesting arc across the series as well as the individual episode plots.

Don't understand the poor reviews because this is great. Excellent cast, stories and format. Looks great too. Love Babou Ceesay as Wolfe, who really captures the charismatic genius vibe and struggle with mental health. A real gem that was binged in a day. Really hoping they make more!
I came to this hoping for a new crime drama but really it's just all drama and not in a good way.
The writing seems to have been done by five different people on different continents. It's really confusing sometimes.
We do get a crime and the team are sent in to solve it but it seems we have form over function and by the end of the episode I couldn't really care less. Maybe it will improve, I'll give it another try but it's not looking too good.

I loved this series to the point of wanting more than 6 episodes. Great cast and a great story.. Fingers crossed for another season.
This is the first time I have been moved to comment but this was dire. The writing and acting woeful and the suspension of disbelief required to believe the protagonist is a charismatic professor too much. The scenes around the mortuary and crime scenes are just ridiculous. I was really disappointed after all the hype but will not waste any more time.
Really enjoyed all 6 episodes, fantastic story lines, great acting. Can't wait for the next season. Well done.

Binge watched the all the episodes, good cast and stories. Too many comments from people expecting CSI. It's a black comedy, just go with it.

Unfortunately the actor portraying "Wolfe" lacked any sort of charm and his acting skills were high school level. Couldn't make it past 10 minutes as I found the next-door neighbour painting his wall in an hospital off-white nuance more interesting...

A fantastic series. Watched all 6 in a couple of evenings. Took a while to get into the first one but then we were hooked. Excellent cast and clever storytelling.

I'm surprised at the all of the glowing reviews I see here. I found this series lacking. First of all, the writing is not very good. The dialog rings hollow. None of the characters or their relationships ring true.
This series seems to be striving for the vacuous level of "glitz" that characterizes most American tv shows. The lab is ultra high tech, the tests are all amazing, the characters are like lab superheroes. I doubt that there's a lab that looks anything like this in Britain, or maybe in the world. Real labs are usually in an ugly basement and technicians don't just breeze through tests that appear in minutes.
If this sounds familiar, it's because it's the same setup that we saw in the CSI franchise, which eventually turned into a parody of a crime show.
Most British series focus more on acting and storytelling rather to rely on the kind of fairyland gloss that drives American tv. I hate to see British tv going down this path.

Really enjoyed this not only is the lead actor great but it's very refreshing to see a mental health portrayed in a more balanced way.
