Two weeks have passed on “Love Island” and plenty of singles have coupled and uncoupled in their bid for love and a fat $100,000 pay check. However, there’s one couple that doesn’t seem to be hitting it off: CBS and “Love Island.”
Ratings for the show have been far from paradisiacal, and with the network gambling heavily on the series by programming it five nights a week, there’s a risk that “Love Island” could soon find itself dumped and that CBS will sail away from yet another failed nonfiction franchise launch.
The numbers for “Love Island” have been unerringly stable, which would be a good thing if they weren’t stagnating at an average of 0.51 in the key 18-49 demographic across nine episodes. Viewership has been just as poor, with roughly 2.3 million tuning in to each episode, far fewer than the network would likely have been hoping for.

Million Dollar Mile will at least reach the finish line. CBS just announced they will air the rest of the likely cancelled TV show beginning July 6th. The series was pulled from the weekday schedule after two low-rated episodes had aired and moved to Saturday nights. After two more episodes had aired, the series was pulled off the Saturday schedule. While CBS hasn't said that the show is cancelled, it's hard to imagine that it will be back next season.
Hosted by Tim Tebow, the obstacle course competition show follows contestants as they make their way through the “Million Dollar Mile” and their biggest obstacle, an international team of top-ranked athletes which has but one mission — to stop the contestants from finishing the race and winning the prize.

There’s a few steps left in Million Dollar Mile. CBS has announced the remainder of the show will air starting tomorrow, July 6 at 8 Pm Et/Pt.
The series was earlier pulled from the weekday schedule after two episodes and dumped into Saturday night, but then pulled from that slot after two more episodes aired. Now, it will have a short reprieve before it likely heads gently into that good night of cancellation.
The obstacle course show is hosted by Tim Tebow, now a New York Mets minor league outfielder. It follows contestants along the course, dubbed the “Million Dollar Mile,” as they battle top athletes who are trying to stop them from finishing the race. Also on board are Matt “Money” Smith and Maria Taylor as play-by-play commentators.

“The Amazing Race 31” may have just ended, but it’s never too early to start thinking about Season 32. And the good news is that it already exists! Here’s everything we know so far about the next trek around the world.
1. It’s already been filmed
Season 32 was filmed in fall 2018 and Phil Keoghan told us earlier this month (watch above) the season is currently in post-production.
2. It will premiere midseason
As previously announced in May, Season 32 will be a midseason replacement for the fourth year in a row. If you don’t know TV industry lingo, that means it won’t debut before January unless a ton of CBS’ new shows bomb and the network needs a replacement Asap. You’ll recall Season 31 was originally scheduled to premiere May 22, but it moved up to April 17 to replace the low-rated “Million Dollar Mile.”

“The Amazing Race 31” finale is this week, but you’ll have an extra hour to prepare for the two-hour closer. As previously reported, the finale will move back an hour on Wednesday, June 26 and start at its former time of 9/8c.
The shift is to make room for the two-night “Big Brother 21” premiere, which kicks off on Tuesday. Both one-hour episodes of “Big Brother” will air at 8/7c. (“Big Brother’s” own switch to Tuesdays for the premiere is likely to accommodate “Race” as well.) Since this season is a reality showdown between “Race,” “Survivor” and “Big Brother” teams, it’s really only fitting that “Race” ends following “Big Brother” after starting the season following “Survivor.”

For its 31st trek, “The Amazing Race” fulfilled the request of many fans who’d been clamoring for years for a showdown between alums of CBS’ holy trinity of reality shows, “Race,” “Survivor” and “Big Brother.” But Phil Keoghan admits he wasn’t always on board with the idea. “I was a little skeptical about it, to be honest with you, in the beginning because I’ve always had a preference for ‘Races’ that have people that have never been on the show before,” the host tells Gold Derby in an exclusive video interview (watch above). “And we do have a big portion of our fans who prefer that approach with ‘Race.’ They like racers who have never been on the show. But you’re never going to make everybody happy. You’re never going to get a total consensus.”

“The Amazing Race 31” started with a scheduling change, so it’s only fitting that it ends with another one. The season will conclude with a two-hour episode in a new — but old — time slot. Episodes 11 and 12 will air Wednesday, June 26 starting at its former time of 9/8c, according to CBS.
The two-hour closer is hardly surprising — the show has done two-hour finales before, including last season — but the shift back an hour might be. “Race” aired its first four episodes this season at 9/8c before taking over “Survivor’s” vacated 8 o’clock hour on May 22 with a double episode.

The 2018-19 television season is in the books, and as usual, some shows performed better than others. Like, better than all of these. This time around, there was actually a tie for broadcast’s lowest-rated entertainment series among adults 18-49, which is the demographic most-beloved by advertisers: CBS Saturday drama “Ransom” (which is still awaiting a renewal/cancellation decision) and ABC’s “Alec Baldwin Show”. See how the 21 lowest-rated broadcast TV shows rank by their “most current” Nielsen ratings below. For the purposes of this story, we elected not to count shows on The CW and news magazines like “20/20,” “48 Hours” and “Dateline,” which would have gobbled up several slots. Highest-rated is first, lowest-rated last — and yes, there are ties.

“The Amazing Race” was off the air last week for the “Survivor: Edge of Extinction” finale, but your patience will be rewarded this week. As previously reported, “Race” returns Wednesday, May 22 with two episodes — and in a new time slot.

Time for another long break, “Race” fans. Season 32 of “The Amazing Race” will debut midseason next year, CBS announced Wednesday.
This isn’t really surprising as “Race” has been a midseason replacement since the 29th season in 2017, being reduced to one season a year. A time slot and premiere date will be announced at a later time.
The good news for fans is that Season 32 has already been filmed, having shot last fall, so it’s basically ready to go if any of CBS’ new fall shows don’t work out. “Race” has been called up to bat to pinch hit before (sorry for all the baseball metaphors): Season 29 replaced the low-rated “Training Day” in the Thursdays-at-10 slot — definitely a weird hour for a family-friendly show like “Race” — and the current 31st season was originally slotted to debut Wednesday, May 22, nearly a year after it filmed, but it moved up to Wednesday,...

NBC’s broadcast of the Billboard Music Awards hit a franchise low in the 18-49 age bracket Wednesday night, while easily besting all primetime competitors with the network’s top-rated in-season Wednesday in the demo – excluding Olympics – since December 2016.

A year ago, Billboard Music Awards aired live coast-to-coast, getting to add in unduplicated viewers from an encore airings in the Western U.S. Last night’ telecast did not air live in the West, and so did not enjoy previous year’s ratings perk.
Elsewhere in primetime, CBS’ Survivor was down a tenth (versus last week’s 1.5) but not at a low. The Amazing Race continued to slow after starting April 17 as a rushed-in sub for Million Dollar Mile.

“The Amazing Race” has a new start time again. Season 31 will move up an hour to the Wednesdays-at-8 slot starting on May 22, which will also feature a double episode that night, CBS announced.
The 10-time Emmy champ will take over the slot vacated by “Survivor,” which concludes Season 38 the week before on May 15 with its usual supersized finale leading into the reunion special. “Race” will not air on May 15. The episodes on May 22 will be the fifth and sixth installments of the season.
“Race” fans will recall that May 22 was the original premiere date for Season 31, which was filmed last summer. In early April, CBS moved the premiere up to April 17 at 9/8c to replace the low-rated “Million Dollar Mile,” leading out of “Survivor,” which is apt since this season is a reality showdown between former racers, “Survivor” stars and “Big Brother” stars.

CBS’ Survivor: Edge of Extinction continued to grow, topping Wednesday in all metrics and hitting a season high in total viewers.
The network’s Season 31 launch of The Amazing Race took 9 Pm across the board, climbing 50% versus Million Dollar Mile’s performance in the slot over its two telecasts before being yanked. Race was, however, down 33% in the demo from its prior premiere on January 3, 2018.
This was the show’s latest premiere in the TV season in 15 years – the most recent “later season start” was in March 2017, when the premiere reached 4.3 million viewers and scored a 0.9 in adults 18-49.
CBS’ Seal Team took 10 Pm last night.
For the third time in four weeks, Fox’s Empire matched its series low in demo. Same night one year ago, the series had enjoyed a 1.8 rating in the 18-49 metric.

The CW’s new drama “In the Dark” slipped 13% in viewers with its second episode on Thursday, after an already poor debut last week.
The hour was comparable with the Perry Mattfeld-led show’s week-ago series premiere in the key adults 18-49 demographic, settling for a 0.2 rating, but fell from an already low 894,000 total viewers down to 776,000 overall sets of eyeballs.
Over on CBS, the “Fam” Season 1 finale held steady with the rest of the freshman comedy’s first batch of episodes, ticking up a bit from the previous week both in total viewers (up to 4.9 million from 4.8 million) and the 18-49 range (rising to a 0.8 from a 0.7).

CBS’ Survivor: Edge of Extinction topped Wednesday night in the demo and total viewers.

After only two episodes in its Wednesday time slot, CBS is pushing LeBron James’ “Million Dollar Mile” to Saturdays.
The move comes after the show has posted lacklustre ratings so far, with a soft 1.0 rating debut in the key 18-49 demographic and 4.1 million viewers, which then dipped to a 0.8 rating and 3.4 million viewers for the second episode. Beginning May 4, it will air the rest of its season on Saturdays at 8 p.m.
The show, hosted by Tim Tebow, involves contestants running the titular race in order to earn $1 million. “The Amazing Race” has a new start date. Season 31 will bow Wednesday, April 17 at 9/8c, a month earlier than its originally announced May 22 date, CBS announced Friday.
Leading out of “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race” is replacing the low-rated “Million Dollar Mile,” which is now moving to Saturdays at 8/7c, effective May 4.
As “Race” die-hards already know, Season 31, which filmed last summer, is a “reality showdown,” featuring alums from “Race,” “Survivor” and “Big Brother” competing for the $1 million prize. And yes, there are some legends of each game (Colin! Rupert! Janelle! Rachel!). (See the cast list below and check out the gallery above.) The season will cover more than 25,000 miles around the world.

CBS barely bested ABC in primetime demo ratings Thursday, when NBC was pretty much a non-factor despite airing its “Will & Grace” wedding.
In terms of total viewers, CBS experienced a much more comfortable victory last night. College hoops are great, but “The Big Bang Theory” is no slouch itself.
The Jack/Estefan wedding on Thursday marks the lowest-rated “Will & Grace” season finale ever. It aired between poor-performing NBC sitcoms “A.P. Bio” and “Abby’s.”

This year’s Mip TV in Cannes is facing a major challenge as a slew of the largest international companies have shunned the April market and A-list buyers and producers have joined them.
The increasingly active London screenings in February have taken a noticeable chunk out of the market for the bi-annual Reed Midem-organized show, which is struggling to attract the volume, and quality of participants that attend its October equivalent Mipcom. The spring confab has always been quieter than the fall event but this year many of the big companies are treating it as a secondary sales market rather than the glitzy launch pad for their hot new shows.
Next week’s event will be without the full participation of Endemol Shine Group, BBC Studios and Fox Networks Group Content Distribution, while the beachside will be very quiet as Fremantle is sending less staff than usual and Disney...

With a somewhat better “Empire” performance than last week, Fox caught up with NBC’s “Chicago” lineup on Wednesday in ratings among adults 18-49.

At last May’s Upfronts, I suggested to CBS’ entertainment chief that Seal Team‘s Season 2 renewal must have been a close call, given, as I put it, the freshman drama’s “disappointing” ratings.
The premise of my question was refuted — Seal Team at the time did rank No. 3 in the demo among all CBS dramas, though it was ninth in the network’s famously and frequently touted measure of total viewership. But to this day, more than midway through Season 2, I maintain that this show should be doing better. And I remain puzzled as to why it isn’t.
