Up, Up, and Away! Truth, Justice, and The American Way. These immediately cause comic fans to conjure up one specific character, The Big Blue Boy Scout. Superman. Heralded as the one that started the superhero boom in comics way back in 1938, there have been a lot of live-action versions over the years. Last year’s Flash movie highlighted some of the more popular ones and even one that had never actually been put on film. With James Gunn taking over the Dcu and using a new Superman film as the starting line, what can we expect from the upcoming film?

Tim Heidecker has announced a new album: Slipping Away, due on October 18th via Bloodshot Records. Today, along with the announcement, he’s released the music video for the album’s lead single, “Well’s Running Dry.”
Following 2020’s Fear of Death and 2022’s High School, the new album will see Heidecker continue to explore resonant themes with vulnerable lyricism, tapping “into universal anxieties, familiar settings, and, occasionally, a blast of apocalyptic unease,” according to its press release.

Spirited Away animator Yoshiyuki Momose takes the reins in this dreamy and dark family fable, adapted from Af Harrold’s novel of the same name
Studio Ponoc – the Japanese animation studio founded by Studio Ghibli alumni, which gave us Mary and the Witch’s Flower – returns with a playful and heartwarming family film that pays tribute to children’s creativity. Adapted from Af Harrold’s 2014 children’s novel of the same name, The Imaginary tells the story of a three-year-old boy called Rudger, who regularly gets into wild adventures with giants and yetis and other fantastical creatures. And yet he can’t be seen by most people; he’s the imaginary friend of Amanda, a young girl who is seeking solace after the death of her father.

As we today, there's still nothing to suggest that Lucasfilm has renewed The Book of Boba Fett for a second season. With that in mind, it's looking increasingly unlikely that the iconic bounty hunter's story will continue in his own series.
Actor Temuera Morrison hasn't shied away from criticising the way he was left on the shelf when The Mandalorian season 3 rolled around and has even said Din Djarin taking centre stage in The Book of Boba Fett played a role in "ruining" the spin-off.
While harsh, it's a valid observation in some ways because an entire episode of the show was devoted to Din and Grogu. Both characters - and their heartfelt reunion - largely overshadowed Fett during the finale and became the main reason for many Star Wars fans to tune in.
That's not to say the series didn't have its fair share of issues, though; while Boba...

Stars: Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp, Matt Damon | Written by Ethan Coen, Tricia Clarke | Directed by Ethan Coen
Directed by Ethan Coen, who co-wrote the script with his wife, Tricia Clarke, Drive-Away Dolls is a queer road movie-slash-crime caper anchored by a pair of delightful performances by co-leads Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan. The plot is admittedly slight and the jokes will almost certainly prove too puerile for some tastes, but it has attitude to spare and the fun characters carry it through.
Set in 1999, on the eve of Y2K, the film begins in Philadelphia, where Texan good-time-girl Jamie (Qualley) has just broken up with her hot-tempered cop lover Sukie (Beanie Feldstein). Needing to get out of town, Jamie jumps at the chance to accompany her strait-laced lesbian best friend Marian (Viswanathan) on a road trip to Tallahassee, Florida, so...

“Flow,” a director-driven animated feature which world premiered at Cannes’ Un Certain Regard and just swept three awards at Annecy Film Festival, has been embraced by a raft of major distributors in key territories, including the U.K., Japan, South Korea, Germany, Spain and Italy. The movie is represented internationally by Charades.
Directed by Gints Zilbalodis, the Annie-nominated filmmaker of “Away,” “Flow” is set in the aftermath of a terrible flood that ravages the world and follows a stubbornly independent cat who is forced to share a boat with a group of other animals. Getting along with them proves to be an even greater challenge than surviving the flood.
A Latvia-Belgium-France co-production, “Flow” is now well positioned to follow the path of other critically acclaimed animated features, such as “Robot Dreams” and “I Lost My Body,” which opened at Cannes, played at Annecy and became Oscar contenders. Variety’s...

The Annecy Animation Film Festival is a place of wonder and discovery. It's an event where you can catch the premiere of the latest "Despicable Me" movie and the return of the Looney Tunes to the big screen, but you can also enjoy teases for the next big thing in studio animation (like Chris Sanders' "The Wild Robot") and appreciate small independent films from around the world.
It's usually in the latter category that the biggest gems can be uncovered, such as "Flow," the sophomore feature by Gints Zilbalodis. This is a beautiful, poignant movie about a group of animals trying to survive in the wild, told entirely without dialogue and animated in a naturalistic way — with the animals not being anthropomorphized but acting just like animals (echoing the golden era of Disney and movies like "Bambi").
"Flow" is also a kick-ass post-apocalyptic movie. You see, when we first meet the film's young cat protagonist,...

An adorable black cat with luminous amber eyes fends for itself in “Flow,” snatching a fish from a pack of distracted mutts and dashing off with its loot while the dogs chase just a few seconds behind. Visionary animator Gints Zilbalodis’ virtual camera swoops after the cat, revealing a crisp, computer-generated world where humans are oddly absent, but their influence can be acutely felt.
Perhaps that explains what happens next, as a near-biblical flood of water — which may well be the result of human-made climate change, though Zilbalodis never specifies — brings a herd of wild animals stampeding in its direction. The cat’s ears flatten, and it crouches low to the ground, much like the Lion King did in that film’s iconic wildebeest scene, as a giant wave comes thundering after the deer. Seconds later, the forest is underwater, and the cat is desperately trying to stay afloat.

The Annecy Animation Festival hosted its closing ceremony on Saturday, where there were two clear winners from the main feature film competition. Adam Elliot’s “Memoir of a Snail” took Annecy’s top award, the Cristal for best feature, and Gints Zilbalodis’ “Flow” scooped just about everything else.
Australian stop-motion feature “Memoir of a Snail” is the latest from Elliot, an Academy Award winner who scored the animated short statue in 2004 with his stop-motion film “Harvie Krumpet.” This time around, the director offers the heartstring-pulling story of Grace Pudel, a lonely misfit who loves collecting snails.
“There’s a magic to 100%-CG-free stop-motion, with its cellophane flames and tears made of sexual lubricant,” wrote Variety Chief Film Critic Peter Debruge in his review of the film. “Don’t be surprised if ‘Memoir’ has you shedding real ones in your seat.”

Project Tides, the upcoming open-world 3D platformer from Fabraz, is shaping up to be a unique and wild ride. The developers, known for their previous games Demon Turf and Slime-san, recently released a trailer for the upcoming project.

The Non-Linear Exploration and Hidden Depths of Project Tides
Project Tides is a cheerful game, but something darker may lurk beneath.
The game offers the opportunity to venture into a large, expansive ocean setting. The developers refer to it as a non-linear world, and Fabraz assures that...

Warning: The following review contains spoilers from the first two episodes of Disney+/Lucasfilm’s series The Acolyte which drop tonight at 6Pm Pt.
It’s a 100 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, essentially the whip and buggy days of the Jedi order, where there’s no such thing as light and dark side yet, not even the Sith.
But there’s a great disturbance in the force in the new Star Wars Disney+ series The Acolyte in which Amandla Stenberg’s Mae, a masked jedi who is going around picking fights with (what will be) four good-spirited jedis, i.e. we open on Carrie Anne Moss’ sage Indara getting offed by Mae “to please the master.” That’s an upsetting kill as Moss is in perfect acrobatic shape in a nod to her high-wire Matrix days. Mae slays Indara not with a lightsaber, but rather with little spears.

Yesterday, a poster was unveiled for director Fede Álvarez’s contribution to the Alien franchise, Alien: Romulus, is set to reach theatres on August 16th (you can watch the teaser Here and check out the poster Here) – and with that poster came the promise that a trailer for the film would be making its way online today. True to their word, 20th Century Studios has just unveiled the new trailer for Alien: Romulus, and you can watch it in the embed above!
When this project was announced near the start of 2022, it was said that Álvarez pitched the idea to Ridley Scott years ago and it stuck with Scott. So in late 2021, he called Álvarez and asked if he still wanted to make an Alien movie. Clearly, the answer was yes. 20th Century Studios division president Steve Asbell told The Hollywood Reporter that they picked up the project “purely off...

A trio of Wheel of Fortune contestants embarrassed themselves on live television when they celebrated prematurely.
Following a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune in which a contestant gave host Pat Sajak a tasteless Nsfw answer on live TV, viewers were treated to another controversial moment.
Pat Sajak had to intervene during a recent episode of Wheel of Fortune when a contestant began celebrating what they believed to be a correct puzzle solution.
During Monday night’s show, three contestants Rufus Cumberlander, Luidgi Altidor, and Cynthia King kicked off their game with a toss-up puzzle.
The category was “Phrase,” and as more and more letters began to appear on the board, Rufus was confident that he had the correct answer to the puzzle, which read, “_ _ N ‘_ / L _ O K / A W _ _ .”
Rufus rang his buzzer, and when Pat called on him to give his answer, Rufus exclaimed, “Don’t Look Away!

The story of a cat and his friends. Flow is an animated film made by the Latvian filmmaker named Gints Zilbalodis, his second feature after making Away (in 2019) which was a fable about loneliness. He's also known for many other animated short films that debuted online before he started moving into making these features. Whereas Away is about loneliness, Flow is about friendship, companionship, and loyalty. The title is once again a literal title because the story is about how we meet and befriend different people as life flows along, taking us to unknown destinations and through many trials & tribulations. Much like Away, the story is a metaphor for life as a human being, this time told through an adventure featuring different animals in a strange world. It's entirely dialogue free and features Zilbalodis' distinct cel-shading animation style, more rudimentary than Pixar or DreamWorks or Sony but still animated with heaps of emotion and compassion.

Sideshow and Janus Films have acquired the North American rights for Gints Zilbalodis’s animated feature Flow, following an enthusiastic standing ovation at its world premiere in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard on Wednesday.
The adventure tale revolves the character of Cat, a naturally solitary animal, whose life is turned upside down after his home is devastated by a great flood.
He finds refuge on a boat populated by various species, and will have to team up with them despite their differences. In the lonesome boat sailing through mystical overflowed landscapes, they navigate the challenges and dangers of adapting to this new world.
The film is directed and written by Zilbalodis (Away), and co-written by Matiss Kaza, with a score by Zilbalodis and Rihards Zalupe.
It is produced by Zilbalodis and Kaza, alongside Ron Dyens and Gregory Zalcman. The film will also screen in June at the Annecy Festival in Competition.

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth is best known for his role as Thor in the Marvel franchise, a character he’s been playing since 2011. Still, did you know he got his start in daytime television?
The actor recently took a moment to stand up for the land of soaps (and their performers), during an interview with Variety.

The season is upon us! Footmen in London’s greatest houses are buffing the silverware and arranging exotic fruit in ludicrous displays. Armies of cooks are carving likenesses of Queen Charlotte out of syllabub. Debutantes are being tonged, powdered and fragranced, ready to stand by the side of the ballroom like gorgeous hothouse flowers waiting to be plucked by an eligible lord. And orchestras are tuning up their violins to incongruously pump out Miley Cyrus tunes to get the Ton leaping. In short: it’s new Bridgerton time.
But one mustn’t step into the new season without doing ones homework. In Regency society, remember, knowledge is power. Find out if you’re a dullard or a diamond by taking our 20-question Bridgerton quiz. Queen Charlotte awaits your results!

By now, it has already been established that Imu is going to be the main villain of One Piece. However, the veil on the character has not been lifted yet. He is still as mysterious as when he first appeared.
But that has not stopped fans from stringing together various details about the villain to figure out his powers. In one such theory, Imu’s Devil Fruit has been speculated, and it’s too good to be ignored.

Catalan films routinely punch above their weight at high-profile international festivals: Think 2022 Berlin Golden Bear winner “Alcarràs.” That trend looks primed to continue in 2024.
Catalan auteur Albert Serra will debut “Afternoons of Solitude,” co-produced by Catalan companies Andergraun Films and Lacima, with Ideale Audience and Tardes de Soledad.
A fall fest bet, “They Will Be Dust,” from Carlos Marqués- Marcet, is produced by Catalonia’s Lastor Media alongside Chile’s Alina Film and Kino Produzioni in Italy.
Few regions boast a lineup of female filmmakers as impressive as Catalonia. This year, new films from Goya Award winners Pilar Palomero (“Glimmers”) and Belén Funes (“The Turtles”) are strong contenders for festival recognition.
With the backing of Catalonia’s Minority Co-Production Fund, four international co-prods are poised to make a significant impact on this year’s festival circuit. Keep an eye out for Javier Rebollo’s “Close to the Sultan”, Calia Atan...

Worn Away is screening at Taiwan International Documentary Film Festival
As you can see, we find ourselves amidst the purest Sci-fi dystopia. Don't we? “Worn Away” unquestionably falls into the category of Unidentified Filmed Objects. Chen Chieh-jen employs a diverse arsenal of tools: choral voice-over, choreography, “slow cinema” tracking shots, and a brilliant, relevant soundtrack to convey his message. Clearly, we're not delving into conventional narrative entertainment here, unmistakably drawing inspiration from Chris Marker's pioneering work with “La Jetée”.

I have some sad news to report today. Actor Bernard Hill passed away at the age of 79. His death was confirmed by his agent, Lou Coulson.
Hill is known for playing Captain Edward Smith in James Cameron’s Titanic and notably for playing Theoden King of Rohan in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films. He also played Luther Plunkitt in Clint Eastwood’s True Crime.
He played many other roles, including Yosser Hughes in the BBC show Boys from the Blackstuff. Hill was due to return to TV on the second series of The Responder with Martin Freeman on BBC.
According to the BBC, Hill was supposed to appear at Comic Con Liverpool on Saturday but was canceled.
We’re heartbroken to hear the news of Bernard Hill’s passing. A great loss. Thinking of his family at this very sad time, and wishing them a lot of strength.

You may know him as a certain superhero, but Chris Hemsworth has a wealth of film roles that go beyond the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After getting his big break on a TV show (the Australian soap opera Home and Away), Hemsworth pivoted to films in the early 2000s — and has only seen growing success since then. In fact, when Extraction dropped in the summer of 2020, its first four weeks saw the largest audience of any other Netflix original movie at the time.
Now, three years later, there’s even more Extraction action to stream. With Extraction 2 out now, there’s no better time to revisit some of the actor’s most memorable movie roles. From Rush and Spiderhead to Snow White and the Huntsman, these films will have you worshipping at the altar of the son of Odin.

With films like The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick’s legacy will live on for centuries to come. During his life and even after his death in 1999, he’s widely considered one of the greatest filmmakers to have ever graced the film industry with his talent. But even a man of his caliber had to have been a fan of someone, and that “someone” for Stanley Kubrick was none other than James Cameron.
Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980)
James Cameron has been responsible for helming some of the most unforgettable and successful films in Hollywood. Therefore, it makes sense that Stanley Kubrick would be in awe of some of his work, and the feeling was mutual between the directors. When James Cameron decided to give himself a birthday present by meeting Stanley Kubrick, he was shocked to learn just how much of a True Lies fan he was.

Stars: Margaret Qualley, Geraldine Viswanathan, Beanie Feldstein, Colman Domingo, Pedro Pascal, Bill Camp, Matt Damon | Written by Ethan Coen, Tricia Clarke | Directed by Ethan Coen
Directed by Ethan Coen, who co-wrote the script with his wife, Tricia Clarke, Drive-Away Dolls (previously known as Drive-Away Dykes) is a queer road movie-slash-crime caper anchored by a pair of delightful performances by co-leads Margaret Qualley and Geraldine Viswanathan.
Needing to get out of town, Jamie jumps at the chance to accompany her strait-laced lesbian best friend Marian (Viswanathan) on a road trip to Tallahassee,...

I’ve been interviewing people for a long time, but as a child of the 80s, one of my bucket list interviews has always been Michael Keaton. Not only was he Batman and Beetlejuice, but he also starred in a whole bunch of childhood favourites of mine, including Johnny Dangerously (coming soon to The Best Movie You Never Saw), The Dream Team, Gung-Ho, and even a drama he did called Clean & Sober, which for some reason I enjoyed as a child.
Keaton’s in the middle of a great career resurgence that began with Birdman. Fresh off his Batman stare-down at the Oscars, Keaton is in theaters this week with his film noir throwback Knox Goes Away. In it, he plays a hitman stricken with early-onset dementia. The fast-moving illness is set to destroy his memory (hence the title) completely, and as if that weren’t bad enough, his...

With its breakneck pace, 90-second songs, and rants against animal testing, Gouge Away’s 2016 debut, Dies, placed the band’s sound squarely within the hardcore template. But the band’s range of influences runs deeper, a fact that’s evident even from their name, which was inspired by the Pixies song. Their third studio album, Deep Sage, finds Gouge Away evolving even further toward the ‘90s noise-rock sound they introduced on 2018’s Burnt Sugar.
Singer Christina Michelle shouted her way through Gouge Away’s early songs, but she shows a broader vocal range across Deep Sage’s 11 tracks. “Stuck in a Dream,” for one, pulses with fury as she repeats its minimal lyrics—“God, I just want to wake up/Up up up up up”—but her howls on this song and others are juxtaposed by passages of more melodic singing.

The night of The Academy Awards is finally here, and the accolades are being handed out to the nominee who has truly raised the bar in their nominated categories. Thus, many might not be surprised to know that Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animated masterpiece, titled The Boy and the Heron, took home the Oscar for Best Animated Film.
A still from The Boy and the Heron
Many from the audience and fans of Studio Ghibli called this decision by The Academy to be one of the most deserving in recent years, and thus, the right choice. But there are also fans of Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, the other frontrunner in the race to win this award, who believe that the film was wrongfully snubbed at the ceremony.

Helldivers 2‘s highly anticipated arrival of mechs has taken a dramatic turn as developer Arrowhead Games announced a critical mission for players. A recent in-game event has disrupted mech production, prompting a call to action for all Helldivers.
This exciting update, dubbed ‘Cutting Edge Warbonds’, coincides with the announcement of new content slated for release on 14 March, and fans are especially ecstatic to continue the fight for democracy in mechs, with some rallying the troops in memory of the late Akira Toriyama.

Anime, the Japanese style of hand-drawn animation, is widely popular around the globe. Manga artist Akira Toriyama played an instrumental role in its widespread renown, as he gifted the world pieces such as Dr. Slump and Dragonball, the latter being his most popular work to date.
Akira Toriyama’s manga have been successfully adapted in the past. Dragon Ball was the anime that caught the imagination of the Western world. It has been subsequently adapted into cartoons and even a live-action film, Dragonball Evolution.
However, when Hollywood tried to wade into his rich world, the result left the artist extremely dissatisfied, and the film based on Goku’s life failed miserably. The creator, Akira Toriyama, increasingly expressed his disappointment with the way Hollywood butchered his carefully crafted world.

American comedian and actor Larry David is mourning the loss of one of his dearest friends and co-stars Richard Lewis. David and Lewis worked together in the HBO television sitcom Curb Your Enthusiasm, which aired for the first time in the year 2000 and is still running. Lewis was a celebrity guest star who used to play a fictionalized version of himself in the sitcom.
Richard Lewis’s unfortunate demise on Tuesday has deeply saddened his co-stars and friends. Some of them are still processing the death of the comic legend, while others have even made heartfelt tributes on social media or press statements. One of them is Larry David.

Michael Giacchino's score for the hit ABC series "Lost" is the greatest musical score in television history. A few other composers have come close in the years since the show went off the air, but for my money, Giacchino's masterful score not only perfectly matched the series' stunning visuals over six seasons, but it whisked the audience through rousing, suspenseful, romantic, heartbreaking, propulsive, and mysterious scenes with the types of memorable melodies and repeated leitmotifs that seem to have fallen out of favor in blockbuster filmmaking these days.
While some of the show's music has been available on vinyl before, the full score for season 1 has only recently been made available on that format for the very first time. Varabese Sarabande is selling the score for $38.00 as a 2-lp edition in a silver foil gatefold jacket featuring notes from co-creators J.J. Abrams, Damon Lindelof, and the maestro Michael Giacchino himself.

The Crown Registered 57 Million Viewing Hours On Netflix After Queen Elizabeth Passed Away ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
One of the most loved shows on Netflix, The Crown, has finally ended its long run, and the audiences cannot get over this fact yet. While many have refrained from watching the finale episode since it is too heartbreaking for them to bid adieu to their favorite show, others simply do not want to kill the majestic impact of the previous seasons by watching the underwhelming sixth season.
However, the show has been grabbing headlines ever since the final part of the final season has dropped its episodes on Netflix. In fact, the finale episode ‘Sleep, Dearie, Sleep’ has been a subject of much discussion around what Imelda Staunton, Olivia Colman, and Claire Foy’s coming together meant.

Angela Bassett (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), Dan Stevens (Legion), Matthew Modine (Stranger Things), Bill Camp (The Queen’s Gambit) and McKinley Belcher III (Ozark) are among the new cast revealed for Netflix’s Zero Day. The limited series will also feature Gaby Hoffman (Transparent), Clark Gregg (Painkiller) and Mark Ivanir (Away) in guest-starring roles.
Zero Day is in production in New York with Robert De Niro starring and executive producing.
Zero Day asks the question: How do we find truth in a world in crisis, one seemingly being torn apart by forces outside our control? And in an era rife with conspiracy theory and subterfuge, how much of those forces are products of our own doing, perhaps even of our own imagining?
At the center of the narrative is De Niro’s Mullen, a popular but complicated figure who is yanked back from retirement to head up a commission investigating a global cyberattack.

In a world replete with quick-spreading disinformation and the subsequent, dangerous proliferation of kooky conspiracy theories, the 2021 animated series "Inside Job" — created by Shion Takeuchi (a writer on "Gravity Falls" and "Disenchantment") — was perfectly timed. "Inside Job" posited that every single conspiracy theory you've ever heard — whether it be Reptilians, JFK, the Mandela effect, the flat Earth, or the faked moon landing — were all 100 percent real. Clones were out there, severed heads were being kept alive in labs, and aliens regularly visited Earth. Just like in "The X-Files," ordinary citizens weren't allowed access to this knowledge.
Earth's conspiracies were overseen by a mysterious underground organization called Cognito, Inc., one of six major shadow governments secretly in charge of the world. The other five were the Catholic Church, the Illuminati, Atlantis, the Reptoids, and the Juggalos (tee hee). The central joke of "Inside Job" was that Cognito, Inc. was staffed by flawed,...
