Chucky’s murderous days are over — at least for now. The series, based on the classic horror movie franchise, will not return for a fourth season on Syfy and USA Network. The news comes four months after Part 2 of Chucky‘s third season aired its finale on both NBCUniversal cable networks.
Series creator/executive producer Don Mancini had been looking to carry on. He revealed in April that he had pitched a fourth season, saying at the time that “it’s something I really like to do.” His enthusiasm helped spring the #RenewChucky fan campaign, which has been rallying support for Season 4.
Needless to say, today’s outcome is not what he had hoped for, but Mancini, who also created and wrote movie franchise, remained graceful in his reaction, vowing that this is not Chucky’s last spree.

“Chucky” has been canceled after three seasons, Variety has learned.
The horror comedy series aired on both USA Network and Syfy. Season 3 aired in two parts — the first in October 2023 and the second between April and May 2024. According to sources, there had been discussions of bringing the show back for an abbreviated final season or even a wrap up film, but ultimately to no avail.
“I’m heartbroken over the news that ‘Chucky’ won’t be coming back for a fourth season, but am so grateful for the killer three years we did have,” series creator Don Mancini said in a statement. “I’d like to thank UCP/Syfy/Peacock/Eat the Cat, our awesome cast and Toronto-based crew (the best in the business), and finally, to our amazing fans, a big bloody hug. Your incredible #RenewChucky campaign really warmed Chucky’s cold heart. Chucky will return! He Always come back.

UCP has acquired the Katie Cotugno novel “Heavy Hitter” with plans to develop it as a TV series, Variety has learned exclusively.
The official description of the novel states:
“‘Heavy Hitter’ follows Lacey Logan, who, with four chart-topping albums is a superstar whose life no longer feels like her own. To maintain her privacy, Lacey skillfully controls her narrative, showing fans and paparazzi what she wants them to see. But when Lacey discovers her boyfriend is hiding two devastating secrets—a bad cocaine habit and a pregnant girlfriend—she begins to lose confidence and control of her own story. Then big-shouldered baseball player Jimmy Hodges, a former Rookie of the Year when Lacey was in high school, walks into the bar where she is venting to a friend. With his shaggy beard and unfashionable button-down, Jimmy is the opposite of the picture-perfect guy Lacey thinks she wants. Soon, sparks fly,...

Plot: Amelia Sacks is about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury, has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season — until a body turns up on the beach. As secrets come to light, the stage is set for a real-life investigation that feels plucked from the pages of one of Greer’s novels. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect.

Netflix is combining two of television’s great loves — rich people and murder — in the first trailer for “The Perfect Couple.” The six-episode series will premiere on Thursday.
Based on the Elin Hilderbrand novel of the same name, “The Perfect Couple” revolves around Amelia Sacks (Eve Hewson) who is preparing to marry into one of the wealthiest families in Nantucket. Helmed by her famous novelist mother-in-law Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman), the event promises to be the most exciting wedding of the season. At least, that’s the case until a dead body appears on the beach. As the investigation begins to look more and more like one of Greer’s novels, secrets are revealed.

Since the premiere of The Mandalorian back in 2019, Disney has made approximately 30,000 Star Wars TV shows. The best has been Andor, a gritty look at the formation of the Rebel Alliance, with Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) at its center.
Cassian actually first appeared in the 2016 Star Wars movie Rogue One. I'll admit that I was at first skeptical about a prequel TV series all about a supporting character from a movie about a Star Wars subplot, but Andor impressed me with its character drama, its deliberate pacing, and its complete lack of Jedi or lightsabers. Sometimes it's nice to just hang with the ordinary people of the galaxy far, far away.
The second and final season of Andor will air on Disney+ sometime in 2025. According to Luna, it will make people look at Rogue One in a different way. “I think people watching Rogue One, after watching season 2, are going to see a different film,...

Finding out that Resident Alien has been renewed for another season was a relief. The show ended on a huge cliffhanger, so another chapter was an absolute necessity. The quirky sci-fi show is now one of my favorites, and it's annoying to have so many questions left unanswered.
Harry Vanderspeigle's fate is not the only thing that keeps me up at night, there are several other residents of Patience whose fates are still unclear. The third season was the shortest of them all, but it was still the most chaotic chapter and the one with so many events that are crucial to the overall story.
Here are 5 questions I need Resident Alien writers to cover.
1. Will Heather Come Back?
One of the most devastating moments in the third season was to see Heather being forced to betray Harry… It was so wrong for the writers to break up the couple...

There are many reasons why a show becomes a fan favorite. The most obvious are appealing main characters, strong storylines, and, of course, on-screen chemistry between the cast. And when a show has all of that, it's no wonder people want more of it. Hence the spinoffs, which sometimes focus on more unexpected characters and storylines.
Resident Alien is one of the most talked about shows these days. The sci-fi comedy-drama won my heart with its bizarre yet meaningful plot. At the center of the story is an alien, brilliantly played by Alan Tudyk, who lands on Earth in the human guise of Dr. Harry Vanderspeigle.
He was sent to our planet to destroy it, but instead fell in love with humans and started a new life there. He also befriends Sheriff Mike Thompson, one of the most eccentric characters on the show. Their tandem is one of the funniest...

As a fan of sci-fi whatever, I still prefer the shows and movies that have at least some fun in them. And right now there's nothing better for me than Resident Alien. The show premiered in 2012 and finished its third season this spring. And I can say for sure that it just keeps getting better!
Resident Alien is full of eccentric people, with the main character played by Alan Tudyk, an alien in the earthly form of Dr. Harry Vanderspeigel, being the link between them all. But there's another character that keeps me glued to the screen when Resident Alien is on. And he wears a uniform...
"You can call me Big Black," Sheriff Mike Thompson, brilliantly portrayed by Corey Reynolds, once said, and he has won my heart ever since. Naive enough not to realize that people around him might not want to call him that lest they be accused of racism,...

Since its launch back in 2021, Syfy’s comedy drama show Resident Alien has been thriving with immense support coming from its big fandom, but it seems like there may be a chance for the series to get even more potential viewers.
Though Resident Alien’s third season came to its end earlier this year, there’s still a lot to talk about regarding the show’s renewal for a fourth season and especially its lead actor’s heartwarming message to a fan who previously lamented “blowing” a meeting with him.
Several days ago, a Reddit user posted a lengthy comment recounting the story of her getting to meet Resident Alien’s Alan Tudyk, an event she was looking forward to, but eventually felt like hadn’t happened in the way she would want it to.
According to the user, she was desperately waiting to see Tudyk at Fan Fest in...

Rest easy, Resident Alien fans. The show has officially been renewed for a fourth season!
It was a close call at NBCU about the show's future, so this is excellent news.
The big difference is that the show will no longer air on Syfy but on the sister NBCU site, USA Network.
We all wish USA's Blue Sky programming were still going today.
They've been out of scripted originals for a couple of years, but with the announcement of The Rainmaker last month, they're back in business.

Deadline reported earlier this year that the Resident Alien renewal was questionable, and they're breaking the news about it today, just as they expected by jumping networks.
At the time, they also said there would be a significant budget reduction, so when we return, things may not be the same in Patience, Colorado.

It’s official: Resident Alien has been renewed for a fourth season at a new NBCUniversal home, USA Network, moving from cable sibling Syfy.
As Deadline reported exclusively last month, the quirky sci-fi comedy-drama was not likely to continue on Syfy, with a move to USA as its most viable option to get a fourth season with a significant budget reduction. The transfer gives USA a second new scripted series, joining the recently picked up legal drama The Rainmaker as the once-thriving original scripted brand is returning to the arena with a slate influenced by the network’s glorious “Blue Sky” era that spanned most of the 2000s and early 2010s.

Resident Alien is on the move.
The dark sci-fi comedy starring Alan Tudyk has been renewed for a fourth season, and is shifting homes from Syfy to USA Network.
The idea is to expose the show to a broader audience, as USA Network tends to have a bit more reach than Syfy. Resident Alien has also recently gotten an awareness boost from Netflix picking up its first two seasons earlier this year.
Resident Alien stars Tudyk as crash-landed alien named Harry who tries to blend in with humans in a small Colorado town while hiding his secret mission to destroy humanity. The most recent, third season averaged 3.3 million total viewers across all platforms.
The move comes on the heels of USA reentering the scripted originals space by picking up a straight-to-series order for a reboot of the John Grisham legal drama The Rainmaker, from producers Lionsgate TV and Blumhouse TV.

The end of Resident Alien Season 3 was a doozy. The episode, titled “Homecoming,” dropped bombshell after bombshell, from the moon being a full-on spaceship to Harry (Alan Tudyk) being body-snatched by a Mantid and beyond. Now, NBCUniversal has officially renewed the hit sci-fi-comedy for a fourth season — only this time, it’ll move networks (as was suspected) from Syfy to USA Network. Some of the details of what’ll happen if and when the show returns are starting to come into our orbit. Here’s a look at everything we know about Resident Alien Season 4 so far. Will Asta realize Harry’s been body-swapped? Now that Harry (Alan Tudyk) has had his body taken over by a Mantid (voiced by Clancy Brown), fans are probably wondering whether the humans in his life will recognize the change of demeanor — Max Hawthorne (Judah Prehn) certainly noticed some differences in his grown-up foe.

James Gunn has displayed his excellent filmmaking chops across multiple fields, with his superhero works ironically being some of his finest. For instance, his work on the Guardians of the Galaxy saga from the MCU and DC ventures like Peacemaker (2022) and The Suicide Squad (2021) are widely regarded as some of the best projects helmed by him to date.

However, some fans continue to doubt what he would bring about in his new version of the Dcu, especially all those Henry Cavill fans out there who loved him as Superman. But it seems those doubts and worries are all in vain, especially after listening to voice actor Alan Tudyk explain just how Gunn has been taming Creature Commandos, the first project from his DC reboot universe.

Ted Lasso became a hit largely because of its sincerity and optimism. The main character, played by Jason Sudeikis, radiates positive vibes and always finds a way to lift the spirits of those around him. Through the eyes of an irrepressible optimist, the show's creators have given the world a light-hearted show filled with sincere characters.
If you've been looking for something similar to Ted Lasso (and there really aren't many projects like that), then we have the perfect show for you – Resident Alien.

A spaceship carrying an alien is sent to Earth to destroy humanity. But not everything goes according to plan: the alien crashes in the snowy mountains of Colorado, and his ship is now in no condition to complete the mission.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2024 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 73 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 22 contenders from last year. As was the case last year, each member’s selections may not exceed the number of eventual nominations in a given category, which will be eight in this case.
On its quest for a second consecutive victory here, “The Bear” will have to fend off just two of its seven 2023 rivals: “Abbott Elementary” and “Only Murders in the Building.” Last year’s remaining contenders that did not air episodes during the June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 eligibility period are “Barry,” “Jury Duty,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Ted Lasso,” and “Wednesday,” the last of which is the only one known to have a new season in the works.

USA Network is returning to the legal drama arena with The Rainmaker, based on the bestselling John Grisham novel and its film adaptation. The project, from writer Michael Seitzman (Code Black), Lionsgate Television and Blumhouse Television, has received a series order by the NBCUniversal cable network, capping a six-year journey by Seitzman to bring the book to television.
This marks USA Network’s first new scripted series in awhile as part of a planned relaunch as a destination for scripted originals. The network currently shares Chucky with Syfy, which is on the bubble for a Season 4 renewal. It also is in advanced negotiations to pick up Syfy’s Resident Alien, which, as Deadline reported exclusively, is poised to become a USA original.

The network currently shares Chucky with Syfy, which is on the bubble for a Season 4 renewal. It also is in advanced negotiations to pick up Syfy’s Resident Alien, which, as Deadline reported exclusively, is poised to become a USA original.

Our TV choices say a lot about our personalities. If we only watch analytical docudramas or super historically accurate shows, it probably means that we use these series to learn about something and try not to waste our time on meaningless stuff. But is it really bad to binge bizarre shows?
Of course, documentaries can be riveting, but sometimes you just need something to turn your brain off and help you relax. We think the best shows to give you that feeling are the weird comedies (sometimes with a little pinch of supernatural thrown in).
Resident Alien is the perfect example of a show that is both lighthearted and easy to watch, but also extremely interesting in its storytelling and with complex characters worth following.
So if you liked that show, these 5 will be to your taste as well.

In that column, I observed, “It’s often...
