Even though he got his start in standup, there’s a reason Cedric Kyles is not called Cedric The Comedian. He’s hosted game shows and the Emmys, starred in Broadway plays and dramas like First Reformed, and much more, and now Cedric The Entertainer has added novelist to his resume. His first novel, Flipping Boxcars, was published a year ago, and just got a paperback release earlier this month.

“Yes, the coddled has to now become a coddler!” That is how Tichina Arnold laughingly describes what’s coming down the street for The Neighborhood, which returns for Season 7 with her Tina Butler and hubby Calvin (Cedric the Entertainer) adjusting to life as grandparents now that their man-child son Marty (Marcel Spears) and his pal Courtney (Skye Townsend) have had their daughter Daphne. “I think it’s a great position, especially for Marcel’s character because Marcel is already funny as heck,” she continues. “So Marty being a dad, but also being a coddled son by Tina? Yeah, that’s a crazy dynamic. That’s a trifecta right there!” In TV Insider’s exclusive first look at the suburban comedy’s new promo art (see the full version below), Arnold and company are having fun, as well—which is indicative of the cast’s off-camera vibe, even after all of these years.

Growing up is tough, especially during your teenage years. Your teens are an era when no one understands you; everyone thinks you’re overreacting, and hormones rage inside your nether region like a mosh pit of questions and embarrassing blunders. I grew up in New York, so I know what walking the Bed-Stuy streets is like while hoping to discover who you are. In Comedy Central‘s Everybody Still Hates Chris trailer, we join Chris Rock for a hilarious look at his awkward teens and all the confusion that helped shape one of the most recognized comedians in the game.
Everybody Still Hates Chris will feature Chris Rock as “Adult Chris,” narrating stories inspired by his experience growing up as a skinny nerd in a large working-class family in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, during the late 1980s. Terry Crews (America’s Got Talent) will voice “Julius,” Chris’ father, who is a gentle giant...

For decades, CBS was known as the “Tiffany Network.” Now, CBS president/chief marketing officer Mike Benson is ready to “break some Tiffany glass.”
The exec, who has been giving CBS a modern image overhaul since taking over in 2019, has now turned his attention to its comedy brand. Timed to the fall launch of the Eye network’s four comedies, Benson has introduced the campaign “You’re Laughing at CBS.”
“People will say that CBS is old and stodgy, but actually, if you look at our programming, it’s really not,” Benson said. “I think we’ve got a lot of work to do, from a brand perspective, to show that we can have a lot of fun. That we are willing to poke fun at ourselves as much as we want people to come in and laugh at the shows that we’ve got.”

“What are we doing, moving around furniture on the Titanic?,” SAG-AFTRA leader and former star of The Nanny Fran Drescher asked a packed conference room of reporters on July 13, 2023. Her union of 160,000 performers had just announced it was going on strike against the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. It was joining the Writers Guild of America, whose 11,500 members were already engaged in their own work stoppage, in the first double strike by the two unions since 1960. “The jig is up, AMPTP,” she added. “We stand tall. You have to wake up and smell the coffee.”
A little over a year later, Hollywood is still feeling a little bit like the Titanic. During the strike, as creatives contended that they were increasingly being devalued in the streaming era, employment of L.A. entertainment workers reportedly dropped 17 percent. Then, as workers emerged from the labor battle with sapped savings accounts,...

Exclusive: God Friended Me creators Steven Lilien and Bryan Wynbrandt are returning to CBS, teaming with the former The Neighborhood writer-producer Laura Moran, James Wan’s Atomic Monster and CBS Studios for Area 51.
The half-hour workplace comedy, now in development, is single-camera, indicating that CBS continues to opportunistically take shorts in the single-camera comedy space where it has had a lot of success with the recently departed juggernaut Young Sheldon and ongoing hit Ghosts.
Last year, CBS ordered only multi-camera comedy pilots, and its two new comedy series for next season are both multi-cam, Poppa’s House and the Young Sheldon spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage.
Multi-camera comedies are cheaper to produce, making them attractive for broadcast networks as budgets get squeezed amid declining linear ratings. For studios, broadcast single-camera comedies are hard to justify financially because of their higher cost and depressed network license fees.

When is the NCIS Season 22 premiere?
The NCIS return date is Monday, October 14.
NCIS Season 22 debuts at 8/7c that Monday evening. It’s a shift from the 9/8c time slot episodes aired this past spring.
