Some characters are evergreen and stand the test of time, and Mayim Bialik’s brilliant portrayal of the nerdy and studious Amy Farrah Fowler will be remembered by not just fans of The Big Bang Theory, but viewers around the world. Before her marquee gig in the blockbuster show, Bialik made her name as a teen star in the sitcom Blossom, in which she played the precocious titular protagonist.

Interestingly, even though Bialik first made her appearance in season 3 as Amy Farrah Fowler, her presence was acknowledged as early as season 1 through a clever reference that connected her to her role in Blossom. A hawk-eyed fan’s observation of this made many viewers excited about this intriguing piece of trivia.

One of the films that Michael Keaton had done before donning the cape and cowl in Tim Burton’s Batman is the 1986 cultural merging comedy Gung Ho. The movie came from Ron Howard after making a splash with….well, Splash — a Tom Hanks/Daryll Hannah comedy from 1983. Then, Howard went on to direct the hit film Cocoon with Steve Guttenberg in 1985. Cocoon is also a film that we’ve headlined in our column about hard-to-find movies. However, in a strong step for this Ron Howard film, the video label Kino has announced the release of a 4K restoration on Bluray for Gung Ho.
The movie would open at number one at the box office in March of 1986 with a $7 million opening and finish its run with $36 million. Interestingly, a TV series based on the film would actually premiere later that year in December of 1986. That version would star Scott Bakula...

Starfield, the action RPG title from Bethesda Game Studios, was released last year and received generally favorable reviews from fans and critics alike. The developer is now working on the Dlc titled Shattered Space, which is scheduled to launch later this year, but there is no launch date yet.
The Elden Ring Dlc will also be released soon, on June 21, 2024, and it is the biggest ever from Hidetaka Miyazaki and FromSoftware. The Dlc seems to be a big rival to the Shadow of the Erdtree and could compete with the highly anticipated Dlc.
Starfield Dlc Could Rival Elden Ring’s Upcoming Expansion

There wouldn't be "The Little Mermaid" without Howard Ashman. There probably wouldn't be many of the most beloved Disney movies without him. Ashman was credited as a lyricist on 1989's "The Little Mermaid," 1991's "Beauty and the Beast," and 1992's "Aladdin," but he also worked as a storyteller behind the scenes, whipping the movies into shape and helping create the framework of a Disney animated movie that the studio continued to use throughout the '90s.
Don Hahn, who produced "Beauty and the Beast" and "The Lion King," said in his 2009 documentary, "Waking Sleeping Beauty," about the history of Walt Disney Feature Animation, "Howard is referred to by Roy Disney as another Walt. To us, and to our generation, he was a Walt Disney type." Hahn also directed the 2018 documentary "Howard" about Ashman's life and his work for Disney.

David Zaslav is many things, but you can’t say he isn’t a bit of a trendsetter. Almost a full year after the great HBO Max culling of 2022 and the announcement that the streamer was relaunching as Max, Disney’s prepping to do the same exact thing with their own twin streamers.
On May 10, Bob Iger confirmed that by the end of this calendar year, Hulu will become a tile on Disney+, merging one of the oldest streamers on the market (it launched in 2007) with its much younger sibling. It’s a similar move to the upcoming Paramount+ and Showtime merger happening over at Paramount Global next month. And as the merger approaches, Disney is going to the same playbook as those companies by removing content from both platforms, in a move Iger referred to as “part of the maturation process as we grow into a business that we had never been in.

Just in time for Succession‘s end, let’s look at method acting. The Criterion Channel are highlighting the controversial practice in a 27-film series centered on Brando, Newman, Nicholson, and many other’s embodiment of “an intensely personal, internalized, and naturalistic approach to performance.” That series makes mention of Marilyn Monroe, who gets her own, 11-title highlight––the iconic commingling with deeper cuts.
Pride Month offers “Masc,” a consideration of “trans men, butch lesbians, and gender-nonconforming heroes” onscreen; the Michael Koresky-curated Queersighted returning with a study of the gay best friend; and the 20-film “LGBTQ+ Favorites.” Louis Garrel’s delightful The Innocent (about which I talked to him here), the director’s cut of Gregg Araki’s The Doom Generation, and Stanley Kwan’s hugely underseen Lan Yu make streaming premieres, while Araki’s Totally F***ed Up and Mysterious Skin also get a run. Criterion Editions include Five Easy Pieces,...

Update, 11:25 Am: Disney+’s documentary Howard will not be removed from the service.
“The list of titles coming off of Hulu and Disney+ next week is still being finalized,” a rep for the company said, indicating that there could be additional changes.
As revealed by Canal+ last week, Howard was on the list of titles Disney had sent to its international partners, informing them that they will be taken off the platform May 26. The authenticity of the list was confirmed by Deadline.
Since the titles were made public yesterday, Disney had received backlash over the pending removal of Howard — about famous lyricist Howard Ashman, a gay man, who co-wrote the songs for Disney’s Little Mermaid animated classic — and its timing, on the eve of the release of the live-action Little Mermaid movie and LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

Get ready to hug your physical DVDs, Blu-rays and 4K discs a little tighter, film fans – because while the age of streaming seemed to come with the promise of everything being available everywhere all at once, that has recently begun to give way to a less optimistic reality. After multiple HBO Max projects were dropped from that service – with no other home to view them on, and no physical release either – it now seems that Disney+ is following suit, with major series, documentaries and original movies set to be dropped from the service on 26 May. It is expected that this is being pursued as a cost-cutting measure, though the exact metrics and cost implications are unclear.
Among the projects leaving Disney+ one week today, according to Deadline, will be the likes of the recent Willow streaming series, sports drama sequel series The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, the Turner & Hooch show,...
