Amy frequently speaks to a camera operator who is never seen named Smokey. This is actually the name of the real cinematographer Smokey Nelson.

The studio audience is a clip taken from The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984).

At Home with Amy Sedaris (2017) was nominated for the 2018 Emmy Award in the Outstanding Variety Sketch Series category, but lost to Saturday Night Live (1975).

The set design was inspired by Amy Sedaris' actual apartment, "only much less cluttered", as she says.

At Home with Amy Sedaris is co-created by Amy Sedaris and Paul Dinello. They previously collaborated on such projects as Strangers with Candy (1999), Exit 57 (1995), and Gym Teacher (2008), to name a few.
