This movie's plot is very interesting and the story has a couple of surprise elements in it. But i think the plot still suffers from inconsistency and lazy writing. I think the film is trying to address too many things which it cannot. It's like i watched two good films at once and now having difficulty trying to separate their storyline from one another. The film could have been a lot better if it had stick with one storyline. The climax of the film was cliched and was predictable. Despite all the negative aspects in this film, it wasn't short of entertainment. I liked the film and would easily recommend it to others. The acting, storyline, direction, set design, background score all were top notch. It's one of those films that you would easily point out mistakes from but still won't be shy to love it.

Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, directed by Ratnaa Singh and starring Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda is a 2017 romantic comedy film which also showcases the evil practices happening in our society like the dowry system and gender stereotypes etc. The pacing of the film is quite good and boast of some really good performances from both the leads Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Kharbanda. The movie choices of Rajkumar Rao is just spot on and he has proved once again that he is the most versatile actors of this industry.
However, there were many loopholes in the film because sometimes it felt unreal as to how the government employees can react in this way ?? The ending of the film is a big letdown as that kind of ending was really not necessary for this kind of film. The moral of the film is really good one and especially for the men out there that -

After a long time I watched a movie which have all aspects of a middle class family. The depiction was so surreal you would feel it could happen to anyone.
It also tells you a lesson that don't hurt a man's ego wrongfully and communication is a key.
Rajkumar Rao as usual a star performer. Kriti did her job well. Big contribution from Nayani Dikshit.
Go and watch!

Amidst the crap (all recent Salman and Sharukh Khan movies) made in India, this should have deserved to make money and appreciated by the audience.

Before I begin, I wanna mention that its the first movie of the director. The first half of the movie was absolutely realistic that no one could find a flaw in it. Second half is relatively pale as well as bit fake but it never lets you to be dissapointed unless you already setup your mind that way.
As I began watching it, It exposed the issue of dowry straightforward. I felt like again they've come to teach me a lesson and talking hypothetical stuff I was not ready for. But it manages to keep the orignal scenarios alive. SOMTHING PRACTICAL!
The plot of any romantic movie is pretty much limited and predictable(love trinangles being an exception) and you can't help with this one too. But all in all, it keeps you connected throughout the duration and you won't feel cringe anywhere(daily soaps lack this feature). For few moments it could be compared to "My sassy girl(korean)" credit goes to chemistry between the two.
The acting of the cast was fine with a deserving mention of Rajkumar Rao, bringing all the emotions live. Kriti was fine yet appriciable.
-1 star for turning a bank clerk into an IAS officer without explaination, -1 star for unmatched background music and its layout and including tv serial type cinematography. +1 star for first and great attempt of director. Therefore, 9

Initially the movie promised to be something else but half of the way director remembered that this is also a Bollywood movie, so he ended the movie in a particular way how the movie should not be ended precisely

This movie is a romantic-revenge-drama which does present few prevalent social issues, without dwelling too much in depth. The plot does has some loop holes with logic and conviction/stand taken by the characters, but it's a movie afterall. All the actors fit in perfectly well and have done complete justice. Watchable for its little hatke romance story between the characters played by Kriti and Rajkumar.

I can't believe, that it is first movie of the director. Brilliant direction who turned movie with simple story into very nice one.
Brilliant acting by Rajkumar and team. Songs could be better but still story and direction wise this is very good and must see movie.

Small town stories are getting very popular. People are moving away from stories of ultra rich people in ultra rich locales. So this writer had good idea set in a small town in Utter Pradesh. The story is relevant, has a social message and has drama. Perfect. No because it has no ending. Add the mandatory Bollywood tadka to it and the film becomes a mess. Kriti Kharbanda is the only saving grace. A bad film overall.

Movies address social problems and offer solutions to them, at times oversimplified ones and these have to be dealt with in a span of 100-150 mins. This movie deals with dowry, women emancipation, arrange marriages and patriarchy. These are the problems a director faces and yet has to choose whether to entertain the viewers or sermonize them. While choosing to do the former Ratna Sinha leaves a simple message (I am not sure if she meant to): don't fight with these problems, transcend them! All the characters have looked beyond a particular stereotype, scores a 100% there. It didn't seem as if any of them were after justifying any ideology or dogma or preconceived notion, they were just guided by the demands of the situation. They just were, and did justice to there characters. The movie opens convincingly. The guy and gal are both apprehensive of the prospects but then they get along emphatically. There is humor. There is romance, honest and of an innocent kind. Then there is reality interspersed, about dowry-bargaining and the modicum of its acceptance, a sister trying to help; a mother keeping traditions- even if wrong. Another mother breaking them for her daughter. Both fathers fighting for there honor and the best for their children. First half ends with the girl running away minutes before her marriage but not without feeling for the groom. Second half begins with the possibility of revenge but the whole idea is passe. Hence the writer did well to avoid an all-out vengeful scenario. A scene or two may seem a little odd for the charade but in hindsight 'Sattu', in love as he was in, couldn't have disclosed his intentions for the sake of the plot of the movie. Rao's acting is great. Kriti's is superb. She looks like the dream- girl through and through and in addition is honest and unegotistical- unlike men- for the entire duration. In fact one should laud her for, what others may call- even if exceptionally- a stretched ending. She is the one who portrays love, unconditional love, in this period. All in all this movie is a great watch except for those bitter in love. Shaadi mein zaroor jana!

The beauty of the protective feeling when your loved one loves you from within the heart but he/she doesn't showcase the feeling due to insecurity but is always there to protect you when you are low. That feeling is a blessing for many. Satyendra aka Sattu was always the protective shield to Aarti, his beloved who left him. Rajkumar Rao once again proved that the future of Bollywood is safe in his hands. Kriti Kharbanda's bollywood debut was through a cool movie. The movie has a little bit of cliche dialogues but it makes you feel good after the first watch. Please watch if you are a romantic movie lover

One Line Review: First half great. Second half too long and boring. Could have been better, if there was more suspense. Great idea goes horribly wrong
What's Good: Only good about the movie is Rajkummar Rao.
What's Bad: Second half, too melodrama and long Climax.
Watch or Not?: If you have nothing to do.

You will regret if you didn't watch the movie yet. A complete package of everything. I am sure everyone can relate to Aarti and Satyendra in their life. The songs are beautiful and it will leave a good taste in your mouth

I find it the best movie that I have ever watched. I have no word to express for such a good actor Raj Kumar Rao and yes the acting skills of Kriti is also praiseworthy.

There is some mistakes or things that can't happen actually. And question aries why it happens like that! For example after five years their meeting & he didn't come to know why the marriage was actually broken till then & he neglects the fact 'dowry' taken by his family. He was too much rude to her then from his ego. If a person like someone he can't be so rude from his ego I think. & of that sense Kriti's character tolarated much. On the other hand Arty suffers much for his heroic decision!! This is a bad message from the movie. But Kriti's acting was really very good and natural specially her smile. Her character was not strong enough. She only suffers for a simple decision which is very essential now-a-days.
But, the movie has something, believe me..which attracts me to love this & repeat some scenes after ending. It has some flavours & some romantic scenes that will attract you must. It contains some major dramatic scene. But if you take it only as entertainment you should give it 9 star or 10. Otherwise you must have to give it 7/8 at least. It will touch your heart & if you have beloved one like Kriti's character Arti then....! 😍

Ok, this movie is biased. It emphasized boy's side in way that the boy is pure like a baby and this boy doesn't know about the huge amount of money taken as a bribe!!!!! Is it really practical? If this boy really loved that girl why he didn't stop his family from taking money from girl's family?.
I think no girl should marry anyone if there is condition of bribery. It's a matter of prestige for any girl that her father has to get her married off by offering money!!!!
A biased movie.

This is one of the best movie I have seen this year....a must must watch. Don't go by the fake reviews on other sites. IMDB is the best place to see the reviews.
