Contrary to popular belief, "Kiss From A Rose" was not written for Batman Forever (1995). It actually appeared in The NeverEnding Story III (1994) a year earlier. Director Joel Schumacher contacted Seal and asked if he could use the song for a romance scene in the Batman Forever (1995). The song had fallen off the charts, so Seal agreed. Schumacher shot a new video for the song featuring Seal, and incorporating footage from the film. The commercial success of the film resulted in a resurgence in popularity for the song.
