So over the past few weeks I decided that I would take my love of six the musical too the next step by watching this amazing documentary which was created by BBC. This is a series about Henry VIII and his wives, chronicling the ups and downs in his marriages and how they shaped his reign as King and ultimately the face of Britain. Henry VIII is the most infamous monarch in English history. Famously he married six times over his 36 year reign. The six queens were formidable individuals. Some were ambitious, some brave, some ruthless - and between them they shaped the man who began as a Renaissance prince, became a monster and ended a regretful old man. In turn they shaped England itself. This series is built up of 4 episodes. Episode 1 features Katherine of Aragon. Episode 2 features Anne Boleyn. Episode 3 features Jane Seymour and Anne of Cleeves. The final episode which is episode 4 includes Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr. Presented by Suzannah Lipscomb and Dan Jones, this four-part series is an original and enlightening look at the real people at the centre of the action during one of the most turbulent, passionate and violent periods in English history. If you are either a fan of Six the musical and want to see which queen had it worse or if you are a historic fan I would highly recommend this documentary/series as I highly enjoyed it!!
