Peacock continues to staff up its new Office. Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei and Ramona Young have been cast in Peacock’s upcoming Untitled Greg Daniels/Michael Koman mockumentary which is set in the same universe as Daniels’ NBC hit The Office.

The trio join previously cast Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore.

In the Office followup, created and executive produced by Daniels and Koman, the documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is in search of a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.

As part of their research for the roles, Gregg, Frei and Young recently shadowed staffers at the Palisadian-Post, a 96-year-old bi-weekly local newspaper serving Los Angeles’ Pacific Palisades area which announced the trio’s castings in a story about their visit.

Just in time for Judgment Day, Netflix has a new installment in the “Terminator” franchise for fans of the iconic, long-running sci-fi action franchise. This time, however, you won’t see any familiar faces — the series is animated. However, you might recognize some of the voices, so we’ve put together a handy guide to the “Terminator Zero” cast.

You won’t see Sarah Connor, Kyle Reese or Arnold’s T-800 in this story — it introduces a new timeline and all new characters to go with it. Set in 1997, Japan, “Terminator Zero” focuses on a developer named Malcolm Lee, who is hard at work on another AI system to compete with Skynet and save the human race. Naturally, a Terminator unit is sent back in time to target him and his three children, while a soldier from the future is sent back with a mission of her own.

Written by Cohan, Look What You Made Me Do follows the ex-wives of an emotionally abusive and absolutely untouchable billionaire. They band together to wreak revenge.

Cohan will executive with Fricke and Laura Terry via their Pursued by a Bear Prods. CBS Studios, where Fricke has been under a deal, is the studio.

This is a rare CBS Studios sale at NBC where the studio aligned with a rival broadcast network. CBS had a hit with the 2005 drama Medium starring Patricia Arquette, which ran on NBC for five seasons before being canceled and moving to CBS for two more seasons, which were produced by CBS Studios.

Timothy Olyphant is set to appear in the untitled golf comedy series starring Owen Wilson at Apple TV+, Variety has learned exclusively.

The show was originally picked up for 10 episodes at Apple in March. Wilson will star alongside fellow cast members Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, and Judy Greer. Olyphant will appear in a guest star role.

Per the official logline the series follows Pryce Cahill (Wilson), “an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After he gets fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store and his wife walks out on him, Pryce hedges his bets entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom (Drager).

Olyphant will play Clark, described as “a successful, former golf pro who once toured with Pryce.”

Exclusive: Stand-up comic Greg Fitzsimmons announced today that his new special, Greg Fitzsimmons: You Know Me, will premiere on his YouTube channel on Tuesday, August 27.

Filmed at The Comedy Mothership in Austin, TX in November, the special marks his second hour on the heels of 2013’s Life on Stage, which premiered on Comedy Central before moving to Netflix and is now available to stream on Prime Video.

You Know Me finds Fitzsimmons reflecting on 34 years of sobriety, sex with a 57-year-old woman, convincing your children that you’re cool, and combating loneliness on the road. And he realizes, he’s happy where he is.

Exclusive: In a competitive situation, Netflix has taken in for development an untitled drama from former A Million Little Things showrunner Terrence Coli, Rabbi and author Steve Leder and Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, Deadline has learned.

Written by Coli, the untitled project is described as a spiritual procedural about a group of ancient humans who’ve been sent back to Earth with a Heavenly mission: to bring hope to those struggling in their darkest hour and healing to our fractured world.

Rainbow Friends Fans continued its remarkable ascension during the first full week of March. A month ago, the short-form content destination wasn’t even on our radar, but it has become a force by offering video game references and jokes catered to Gen Alpha.

Exclusive: Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!), Chelsea Frei (The Moodys), and Larry Joe Campbell (The Orville) have been set for guest star roles in the forthcoming second season of Fox’s popular workplace comedy Animal Control, starring Joel McHale.

Others set to appear in S2 guest roles, as previously announced, include Ken Jeong, Sarah Chalke, and Krystal Smith.

Premiering last February, the show created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. McHale plays Frank, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals.

On the first anniversary of Annie Wersching’s far-too-soon passing, the actress’ family shared a beautiful tribute on Instagram.

There’s been a steady trickle of casting news since those strikes finally rumbled to a close a few weeks ago, and it’s clear that James Gunn’s upcoming DC debut, Superman: Legacy, is rapidly taking shape. Only yesterday (that being 22nd November), it was announced that Nicholas Hoult is to play criminal mastermind Lex Luthor, for example.

We’ve now learned that Hoult will be joined by some other familiar faces. Deadline has revealed that Sara Sampaio is to play Eve Teschmacher, Lex Luthor’s assistant and potential love interest.

As Halloween approaches, U.S. audiences consistently demonstrate an increased appetite for horror content. Historically, TV show demand within the horror genre surges each October, and 2023 is anticipated to be no exception. The chart below shows demand peaks for horror TV series during the months of October in the last years.

The fluid nature of the entertainment sector ensures that the horror genre remains ever-evolving. Within this genre, audience preferences shift, as new shows introduce trends and captivate viewers, while interest in others wanes. A case in point is the burgeoning popularity of horror-comedy shows.

In the first quarter of 2021, this sub-genre accounted for 10.8% of the total horror show demand. Fast forward to two and a half years later, and its market share has risen to 17.4%. Fox’s Jon Hamm-led animation show “Grimsburg” has snagged a premiere date with some outsized leverage.

“Grimsburg,” a series that Fox has promised will bring the animation genre to “new heights,” will debut Sunday, Jan. 7, after the second of two NFL games that day.

The news was revealed Saturday at a New York Comic Con presentation that featured “Grimsburg” showrunner Chadd Gindin. The event included a screening from the show’s first episode and a panel discussion. Fox also released a trailer for “Grimsburg,” which you can watch above.

Jermaine Fowler, fresh off his comedic turn as Clifton in this year’s horror comedy The Blackening, is set to return to the genre once more in an upcoming psychological thriller. Deadline reports that Fowler just wrapped production on the genre-bending thriller from Hot Tub Time Machine director Steve Pink (“Santa Clarita Diet”).

The untitled thriller “follows Allen Perkins (Fowler) through various twists and turns on a descent into darkness as he hosts his old college pals for the weekend.”

Pink called this project, “One of the coolest films I have ever had the opportunity to direct in my career.”

The whodunit sees an older, high-powered businesswoman convalescing in a sleepy coastal town with her adult daughter and granddaughter. When the granddaughter discovers a body while kayaking and becomes a suspect, the trio, all fiercely independent, must come together to solve the crime, uncovering all sorts of secrets in the town along the way.

It’s been four years since Netflix canceled Santa Clarita Diet, and some people — including its star Drew Barrymore — still have a hard time letting go. It’s hard to blame them. Santa Clarita Diet - Netflix Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant toplined this comedy about an undead realtor. The series had a devoted fanbase, but Netflix shocked everyone when it canceled the show after three seasons. And, no, there was no closure in sight. Boo. Netflix again? We're sensing a pattern.

Showtime’s “Yellowjackets” has a large ensemble of actors worthy of Emmy consideration, from established stars like Melanie Lynskey and Christina Ricci to up-and-comers like Jasmin Savoy Brown and Sophie Nélisse who play their younger counterparts. But one cast member, Liv Hewson, has removed themselves from contention, due to the gendered categories of the Television Academy’s awards.

Hewson, a nonbinary Australian actor also known for their work on Netflix’s “Santa Clarita Diet,” told Variety that they made the decision not to submit themselves for consideration to the Emmy Awards. Hewson opted out of submitting because they would either be placed in the supporting actor or supporting actress in a drama categories, as all Emmy categories are split into male and female honorees.

“There’s not a place for me in the acting categories,” Hewson told Variety. “It would be inaccurate for me to submit myself as an actress.
