The Farrah Fawcett Foundation (Fff) held its highly-anticipated fundraising event, Tex-Mex Fiesta, on Saturday, September 9, at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills.

Tex-Mex Fiesta was first held in 2015, and has raised close to $1 million to date, with proceeds benefitting Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C). Proceeds from this year’s Tex-Mex Fiesta once again benefited Stand Up To Cancer.
Among the attendees were Shannen Doherty, Heather Locklear, Chantelle Albers, Hart Bochner, Dyan Cannon, Barbara Davis, Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner, Kate Flannery, George Hamilton, Mary Hart, Nigel Lythgoe, Jessica Morris, Ryan O’Neal, Stefanie Powers, Joe Roth and Irene Roth, Carole Bayer Sager and Bob Daly, Kimberly Stewart, Sean Stewart, Cheryl Tiegs, Ann Turkel, Fred Willard,...

White walkers, FBI portals and the latest D.C. headlines are taking up their share of the weekend TV conversation these days. But those who turn off HBO early after “Game of Thrones” are missing out on the evening’s true TV highlight. For the second week in a row, it’s Issa Rae’s “Insecure” that’s been the best show on Sunday night.
The Season 2 premise so far might be simple: Two halves of a recent break-up sort through their feelings while one tries to move on. In Sunday night’s episode, a recent hookup has both Issa (Issa Rae) and Lawrence (Jay Ellis) thinking about the long-term relationship they’ve lost. In its second season, “Insecure” has broadened its scope to include more of Lawrence’s perspective. The result is a series that’s elevated itself beyond a simple will-they/won’t-they without sacrificing Rae’s strong creative voice.

On this day 47 years ago, Pirates player Dock Ellis pitched a no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. That feat in itself is Very impressive, but it turns out that accomplishment was even harder that it should have been, because 10 years later Ellis revealed that he was super high on LSD when he did it.
Now that incredible story is being made into a movie starring O’Shea Jackson, Jr. (Straight Outta Compton) as the title role of Dock. Deadline reports the role will be a difficult one for Jackson Jr.:
"The role of Dock Ellis is also a meaty one to play for Jackson Jr. The ball player was a colorful character — a highly competitive loudmouth who suffered no fools and called out racism when he experienced it. For instance, when he wore curlers in his hair at a workout, he was forbidden to do so ever again by the Mlb Commissioner.

One of the greatest sports anecdotes of all time is now being made into a feature film, as Deadline reports that O’Shea Jackson, Jr., who played his famous father Ice Cube in Straight Outta Compton, has been tapped for the starring role in Dock, a movie about former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher and all-around fascinating dude Dock Ellis. Ellis—who played for the New York Yankees, Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, and New York Mets as well as the Pirates in his decade-long Mlb career—admitted after his retirement that he had never pitched a game sober, an impressive feat considering that he had helped lead both the Pirates and the Yankees to World Series wins.
Ellis’ most infamous exploit, though, is without a doubt the no-hitter game he pitched on June 12, 1970—exactly 47 years ago today—while high on LSD. Ellis had apparently forgotten he had to pitch ...

The Show Was Dumb No Doubt About It
I feel like staying far away from Civil War II this week. How far away? I’m not even writing about comic books. That far.
Doubt was another attempt to do a Shonda Rhimes style show without Shonda Rhimes. CBS tried to hedge its bets by having former Grey’s Anatomy Katherine Heigl headline Doubt. Did that help? Even less than her presence helped in her last show, State of Affairs. State of Affairs lasted 13 episodes. CBS pulled Doubt after only two episodes. Which is one more episode than I was able to last. Doubt was such a huge turkey it could have fed the Eight is Enough brood and still have had enough to give the Brady Bunch leftovers. But I digest.

The first few days of Donald Trump’s presidency have been filled with a slew of sweeping policy changes that have garnered plenty of criticism — but the recent changes to America’s immigration policy have topped headlines. With an executive order that has been considered a Muslim ban by many, let’s take a look at some great films about immigration to the United States. There are plenty of them, but here is just a sampling of 16 that you should definitely watch.
A Better Life (2011): This film was directed by Chris Weitz and is a drama about a gardener in East L.A. who struggles to keep his son away from both gangs and immigration agents all while trying to give him opportunities he never had. A Better Life — written by...

Baz Luhrmann's resplendent, hyperactive Netflix series The Get Down documents hip-hop in the days before it was truly documented. A colorful, graffiti-strewn 1977 Bronx tableau about a gifted, lovesick poet named Ezekiel (Justice Smith) who finds himself drawn into the burgeoning culture exploding at block parties, the series sets the action years before docudramas like Wild Style, Kurtis Blow's performance of "The Breaks" on Soul Train and rap was etched to vinyl — even before landmark pieces like Robert Ford Jr.'s Billboard breakdown "Jive Talking N.Y. Broadway's biggest hit said goodbye to some of it's biggest hitters this week. Hamilton bid adieu to Tony-winning star and writer Lin Manuel Miranda, Tony winner Leslie Odom Jr, Tony nominee Phillipa Soo and 'The Bullet' herself, Ariana DeBose. That's a big change for the blockbuster and has, doubtless, left several Hamilton devotees heartbroken. We figured it'd be fitting to take a look back at some Sessions performances from the Tony-winning score that has wiggled its way into our heads and playlists and won't let go nor do we want it to. Featuring The Color Purple's Akron Watson, Elf's Paul Ianiello, Avenue Q's Imari Hardon, country-fried acoustic trio Siren, new comer Ellis Dawson and Hamilton's own Angelia standby- Alysha Deslorieux.

The trailer offers us an intense look at the film and we get our first look at newcomer Demetrius Shipp, Jr. as Tupac Shakur — he sure does have an uncanny resemblance to the musician. Judging from this minute-long teaser, the movie looks like it could be good. I hope it is and I'm looking forward to seeing more.
