Not a lot of controversy about this one...just a lot of teamwork.

This film is about the New York Knicks of the late 60s and early 70s. While the team had long been unloved and not particularly good, they found their way ultimately and were one of the better teams of their era.

"When the Garden Was Eden" is a very good documentary. However, one thing it isn't is controversial or 'sexy'. What I mean is that this film is NOT about flash and style (even with Walt Frazier's natty clothing) but about teamwork--something that often isn't talked about very much in other "30 for 30" films. So many are about a person who achieves greatness or a group of players who are well- known for being 'bad boys'--but neither would seem to apply to these Knicks. I love this--as the film glorifies folks who work hard instead of folks who are just loud butt-heads--an example that should be celebrated and emulated more. Well made and worth seeing.
